My 32-20

I have talked about my 32-20 Trotter Special but you guys have never seen it. Here is it. ;D
I used to have synthetics on it with a 4x but now it wears a wood shotgun set with shortened forearm and a 2.5x20 Simmons. The pics. make the forearm look alot lighter color but it's just the lighting.
It's a great little rifle. ;)

The bathroom scale says it's just a hair under 5 pounds.
It's basically like carrying a superlight Handi but it doesn't heat up and start throwing shots all over like a superlight.
It's just about the perfect little varmint/small game rifle.
It's plenty accurate too. I've shot 1.25" groups at 100 off the bench with it when I had the 4x scope on it.

 Spanky Nice I just got one two have not shot it yet!
 Trying to get bullots for, All place have them on back order.
 I got 100 grain cast be here next week. Something all ways comes up when I want to shot.
 Got some factory I am going to try. when I can.
 What powder and bullets you using?  Marv.

Did you have that custom made? How does it shoot cast bullets? I have cases and dies but no 32-20 looks like a lot of fun.

The most idiotic thing I ever did was sell my Marlin 32-20.  A 32-20 is an accurate and versatile round. Turkys, squirrels, rabbits, groundhogs.  But lordy, lordy, the factory ammo is really expensive.  That's why I sold it.  Should have kept it and got some reloading dies.  You're a lucky man to have a 32-20 in a Handi.

What does the barrel have for a twist and what are the bore/groove dimensions?

It's a stub barrel from a .303 British. You'll have to ask trotterlg for the particulars on the dimensions and twist rate.

I do know the answer, the barrel is about 3.11 bore, it is hard to measure because the barrel has five lands and grooves, and it is a Left hand twist.  Odd part is the lands are wider than the grooves are, from others that have tried them, the shoot cast bullets really well, probably due to the very wide lands the British used for some reason.  I think they are about a 1 in 8 1/2 twist.  Larry

The easy way to measure a slug with an odd number of lands is to wrap the slug in a .001 feeler gauge, the subtract the feeler gauge thickness from the total.  Works good, even for those three land rifles!

You have to subtract twice the feeler guage thickness from the measurement.  ;)
