Those ole New Englander's are used to BAD weather. What you really have to watch out for is the stories that come from them afterwards, like them shooting a 45-70 Handi straight up and the bullet wouldn't clear the snow drift!!! Take it from a midwesterner, spring will come and once again you will be able to find the target stands at the range. JamesIII

Thanks for the concern Daman, we are expecting about a foot of global warming starting about 0500 tomorrow morning here on sunny Cape Cod. Those south of us in the Mid Atlantic really got hit over the last 2 days and we were lucky. Growing up in a snow belt helps to survive our New England winters. As long as the snow ios not deep enough to stop me as I wade through it and jump into the 105 degree hot tub at night I am all set. I was talking to a guy at work today who told me if he gets to feeling lethargic, depressed, blue, or just stuffed up at any time of the year he justs stops at the beach and jumps in for a minute or two and he feels much better almost instantly. He said he might jump in after work to improve his spirits, but it did get up into the high 20's today so it was not really cold today....<><....:)

P.S. - you know it's cold out when the water and moisture freezes on your beard and moustache (not much hair left on my head) as your sitting in the hot tub looking at the stars while waiting to finish your glass of wine or your drink. That does not happen at 20 degrees, has to be quite a bit colder....<><.... ;)

Didn't know you were in Cape Cod. Great place in the Summer, been there many times, but I don't think I'd enjoy Winters there. Here in PA. we are expecting 12-18" with this storm and 40 mph winds.

I sometimes refer to it (Cape Cod) as "this God forsaken sandspit", that really bothers my wife, who by the way, is from western PA....<><....:)

Hafta dust off the tunneling machines again like we did in the 50's. I can remember my mom telling me not to touch the wires when we were standing on top of the snow banks.

My thoughts go out to all my Yankee Brothers and Sisters, we need some sympathy here too!
We are having a large dose of bad weather here in West Texas too. Snow has fallen twice this winter with about 3 inches on the ground from both times (as it was in the high 20's I didn't make an accurate measurement) ;D
 Of course it dreaded white stuff was gone by the next Day here and it was back to jacket weather ;D

I forgot to mention Poor old Pete up in the upper peninsula having to shoot his new toys from the porch rail cause it is so cold! ;D.

Yep!  Getting a lot of global warming in Maryland also.

We've been due for a heavy snow winter.  It been since 2003 that we've had over 20". The overall season total has been breached.  After this current storm dumps the predicted 12-18" we should be approaching 75" for the season.

I think we've been lucky - we dodged last weeks snow.
Overall, it hasn't been bad in terms of snow, just COLD.
My mom's down the cape too and they're about to get whalloped.

Besides, I bought a used snowblower late fall, so I know we'd have a light winter.  ;D ::)

I live in central New Hampshire and we're actually in a snow drought right now. It's snowing right now but we're not supposed to get much. I probably only have a foot of snow in my yard right now. The two previous winters were absolutely crazy. Two winters ago was the most snow I've ever seen in my life. The town I live in got somewhere around 150 inches for the season. I couldn't see out of my kitchen windows because the snow was piled so high. I would actually have to shovel my windows out every storm so I could see out of them. I remember bow hunting in early November before rifle season and there was already 2 1/2 feet on the ground.

Not bad where I am on the Cape (yet), I am at work and just called a victim and cancelled an interview I had set up in Falmouth, about 25 miles away on 2 lane roads. I decided by the time I got there, interviewd the people I needed to and then drove back to the office it would be mid afternoon, and no telling what it would be like then. I can go next week. I can drive in this stuff having grown up in New England, but I am always worried about the other guy on the road....<><....:)

Thanks Kurt, I liked that reference to the 105 degree hot tub, are those enforcers obama's civilian corp's (pronounced "core" Mr. President) or are they algore's green police?!!!

Youze guyz is gettin da bad weather, not us.  It's a toasty 29.7.  I've got bare ground most places and 4 - 5 inches in the "drifts".  We normally get 200 inches of snow a winter, and I don't think we've had 36 yet.....all the big ones have gone south and east of us.  I don't believe we hit ten below yet, 10-20 below is about normal for this time and -30 to-40 happens, but is not the norm.  Maybe I ought to move back to the Joisey shore so I can experience real winter. ::)

Joisey got plenty of winter this year, especially Southern Joisey. I work in Joisey and live in PA. almost a 200 mile round trip each day, but not today.  ;) I'm sittin' at home watching the snow fall. About 8" right now and dropping at more than 1" per hour. They say it's supposed to really come down this afternoon though!

Why yes, I have 5 of them!!!

A 2004 KJ Libby the wife drives, a 2002 WJ Grand Cherokee, a 1999 TJ Wrangler, a 1989 MJ Comanche and a 1988 XJ Cherokee. I like Jeeps as much as I like Handis!!

I got lucky and so far the "storm" is been a bust. We may still get pummelled but so far we only have a 1/4" on the ground. We kept 5 guys on staff and sent the remainder home to be fresh for the morning. ITS NICE TO BE HOME!!

I've been wanting a Jeep since I first looked at a new Scrambler in '79. I retire in 6 years and a Jeep is on the top of my list along with a 6' plow for it as a happy retirement to me present.
So far we have about 12" or maybe a bit more on the ground, but it's still coming down. We had a 2" per hour snow this afternoon, but it slowed down and now it's maybe 1/2" per hour.

As of about 2 PM at least one county and the Maryland State Highway Admin. have brought in their plows due to white out conditions. 

I went out at around noon with the blower.  We had a good foot of new snow at that time.  Can't tell where I cleared at the moment.  Local news just reported that the National Weather Service extended the blizzard conditions until 10 PM.  Also just reported was that we're up to 73.3 inches of snow for the season.  Unfortunately, the majority of it has been since last weekend.  Current snow totals for this storm range from 12-20 inches.  The old season record was 62.5 set in 1995-96. 

Maryland is not exempt of blizzards.  They occur every few years or so.  Typical winters usually see storms in the 6-8 inch range.  This season, however, has been highly unusual.

Baltimore City has annouced that all non-emergency vehicles are banned from being operated on the streets.  Plow drivers have also been given the choice to remove their vehicles from the road when they feel its appropriate.  The City also broadcast an announcement over the media for persons who own skid loaders and wish to offer their assistance.

Lots of stories of citizen groups shoveling their way the get to the elderly and deliver medicine.  Many roads around the region were not yet cleared after last weeks 2 feet+ of snow.

Might be a while before I get some range time in.

I hear ya.  The local stations frequently report on the lake effect snow you folks get up there.  70+ inches is a normal winter for you.   :o  :o  :o  :o  ;D

I'm a Jeep fan myself. My daily driver is a '99 Cherokee Sport with the 4.0 & 5 speed. I have 195,000 miles on it and it runs beautiful. In the warm weather I average 24-25 mpg and 21-22 mpg this time of year. It's fantastic in the snow. I'm going to try to run it as long as she'll go then for my next one I want an '04 - '06 Wrangler Unlimited.

We were lucky on the Cape this time and dodged the bullet on this one. We only got about 5" of HEAVY wet snow...lucky day!!!....<><....:)

We ended up with about 19" of snow with more in some spots and less in others with the drifting.
