reload 45-70 with 45 colt dies

Can I Resize & reload my 45-70 cases with 45 Colt dies ?

99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

No because they are two different diameter bullets, and the 45 Colt dies probably won't screw out that far.

i wonder if you could use the .45 colt dies as a sort of neck sizer die for the .45-70?
I have it on good authority that the telepromter is writing a stern letter.

I was thinking on the same line as a neck sizer. But with them being different diameter, which I should have noticed before asking, that wont work.  Thanks for the input guys.

If you are shooting a single shot 45-70, you might consider purchasing a "taper crimp" die.  You can finger seat the bullets, then run the cartridge up into the taper crimp die.  Presto, you have a loaded round!  This may not work in a lever gun because of the need for the cases to feed through the action.

The buffalo hunters just finger seated the bullets and might have pinched the case mouth to hold the bullet in.  But of course they were shooting black powder, which developes a relatively low pressure.
