Sweedish action question

  A customer showed ME a Swedish gun he had. He said it was a Mauser. It had a T bold that puled straight back and a big o ring on the back that could manually set the firing pin. The trigger had a lot of take up but was crisp and light otherwise. The stock was short so I have to believe that the gun was modified. Can anyone post a picture for me and or give ma a little background on this gun. The customer said it was 7.5 mm or so he thought.

From your description that is not a mauser, it is a Swiss Schmidt Rubin.

+1 sounds like a k 31   should be a 7.5x55 . If i am not mistaken the straight pull is a mauser design , I could be wrong . ( wouldn't be the first time ) I have heard the k 31 referred to as  a "straight pull mauser "

   Yep! thats the gun. Unfortunately the stock has been cut. The gun felt great though. How do these things shoot?

Have you seen the movie "Larry McMurtry's Streets of Laredo "? Do you like westerns?  Go rent/buy it!! The Mexican killer uses one through out...

Generally a good shooter, ammo can be spotty for availability.

They're VERY popular for formal target shooting competition in Switzerland.

MidwayUSA has surplus 7.5x55 ammo & Graf & Sons has both surplus & sporting ammo.

CW - great movie! I have a set of "Lonesome Dove" and that was like the 5th movie that I picked up - one at a time. Just wish they had kept the same actors for the parts in each additional movie. All great actors, just hard to picture Sam Shepherd as Pea-Eye in the 5th movie and who could possibly replace Diane Lane as Laurie-Darlin' and then marry up with Pea-Eye!! That was pretty far-fetched, if you have followed the series. LOL  However, that Mexican kid did a bang-up job with that rifle!  I read somewhere that his part was actually based on a historical event. I've yet to check that.

The Schmidt Ruben K31 is the most accurate GI rifle I own that has not been accurasized.  As issue the thing will shoot 1 MOA routine as clockwork.  They are also fast to operate.

My K31 and M96 are the most accurate milsurp rifles I own. I have a few different 8MM Mausers in comparable/super shape and they are great shooters but the first two examples are clearly superior in the accuracy department.
