even i have a bad day calling once in a while

.     BUT NOT TODAY!!!!
here is a pic of the four foxes that were called in this morning. the first fox was called in about a half hour after sunrise. he charged in with reckless abandon. i took a shot and missed cleanly. moving to the second stand about 600 yards further up the dry wash. the truck was left in the two track as there was no place to hide it. the stand site was about 75 yards from the truck. about three minutes into the call i spotted a fox as it walked out from behind my truck. well so much for hiding the truck to keep it from spooking the game. the fox disappeared into some tall brush along the edge of the ravine. about 60 seconds later a second fox walked from under my pickup and it too disappeared into the brush. the first fox reappeared about 40 yards in front of me. he had obviously used the cover of the ravine to conceal his advancement on the caller. he presented himself in such a way i was afraid he was going to disappear again. a lip squeak quickly brought him to a halt, kablam and the flip flops began. he hurled himself into a huge bush and disappeared. the second fox totally disappeared. the fox was found in the bottom of the ravine about 20 feet from the bush.
after making two more stands farther down the ravine i returned to the spot i had last seen the fox. a decision was made to go 200 yards farther down to make a stand. this was an attempt to call a fox that had already been called. about 5 minutes into the call the fox popped out about 30 yards away. a quick shot ended the stand on a good note for me and bad for the fox.
now it was time to make a run at the first fox who had actually been shot at, not likely. well about 2 minutes into the call i was blowing on a baby cottontail call. luck would have it just as i blew the call he stepped out from behind a soap bush. well the staring contest was on. he stared at this strange looking bush that wasn't there earlier and makes squealing sounds to boot. the contest went on for almost 60 seconds. the fox decided it was time to leave and my 17/30 carbine was pointing the wrong direction. just as he turned i brought the rifle to bear, a quick blow on the call stopped him in his tracks. the little rifle barked and the fox barked no more.
the last fox was pretty strait up , i called, he came in and i killed him.
