How long for lime to work?

Waiting for my soil test to come back from Raleigh.  If I need lime, is it too late to apply for this spring?  A dealer told me that he will take a beating on his bulk lime sales this year because it has been so wet his applicator trucks can not get into the fields, and lime applied in the spring will not be usefull to this season's farm crops.

How long does it take for lime to adjust the soild Ph?  My garden is so small the cost is insignificant, but still I like to do things correctly.  Doesn't bag lime work faster than the wet lime that farmers use?

I always put any needed lime on in the fall, but here is an Ohio State Fact sheet with some info.  This has to do with lawns, but the info can still be useful..

if yur in a hurry yu might look into pelletized lime like yu buy at lowes. it may work faster than aglime.not sure about that but might be worth lookin into.prob only work on a small plot tho.

This is what I use, the powder always seemed to make a mess, and never get it where I wanted it to...

Living in the west I know nothing about using lime in soil, but I had some College chemistry, and I would think it would work almost immediately. All you are doing is trying to raise the PH a bit right. Ask the folks who did your soil test.
