Hey all, new here, seems like a great forum. Here is a little info about myself. My name is Sam Koger, post name Koger. I am 47, live in southcentral KY, Monticello, near the Tenn. state line. I have been an avid shooter most of my life, grew up in a family of gun traders, and tinkerer's. I am an avid bullet caster, handloader, and an accuracy nut! I ran a sporting goods/pro shop/gunsmithing business for several years, got burnt out dealing with the public and sold out to a younger man. I have built over 100 custom bolt action rifles, blued hundreds of guns over the past 20 years. I also specialized in glass bedding, trigger jobs, recrowning barrel, and so on. That was another life ,just do that for myself now and help a few friends out, I still have my metal lathe, a milling machine and all my bluing/parkerizing equipment. I am also a hardcore bowhunter, have been strictly traditional bowhunting the last 4 years, have taken 5 turkeys and an even dozen deer with recurves and longbows. I am pretty passionate about traditional ML's too, only kind I hunt with. I used to shoot ML's on a local, state and National level up till 3 years ago, times change and so do prioities. I was able to medal a total of 31 times in National competition, and won 1st place 2004 Ky state games, 2nd 2005. I also write for Backwoodsman Magazine. I currently work at Burnside Group HOme for the Commonwealth of KY, Dept. of Juvenile Justice working with commited youth 13-18 years of age, mostly youth with substance addiction problems. Great job, very rewarding and is a living. I have a few NEF rifles, my favorite .243 has been taken over by my wife who shamelessly slaughters unsuspecting deer every year.. I am blessed with a wife who grew up in in a family of hunters and shooters and she hunts also. I also grew upa around a retired Marine armorer and black smith who learnt me the skills of the trade while a young teenageer, and God has blessed me with many skills which I try to pass on through writing and mentoring. In my spare time I coach 4 H Arhcery. Great to be here looking forward to getting to know you guys. Sam Koger
