i full length sized alot of .308 brass.  all but one would  chamber no problem. i took it and sized it again, thinking hadn't closed the handle all the way. still won't chamber after 3 trips in the die. now i think the shoulder is the problem from marks on the brass. it really makes no difference cause i just threw it away but i'm curious. why wouldn't it size?

Check the rim to see if it is bent . A problem can exist on either end .
I had some that came from a machine gun that had bent rims . Got to check range brass better next time. The other option could be an excessive long case hitting on the case mouth

the length was set with the case trimmer but if i can find the case in the trash i will check the rim. thanks shootall

most likely it was shot in a miltary semi auto or full auto that had a bigger then average chamber. A standard die will not size the very bottom of the base of a cartridge and if its shot in a big chamber you just wont be able to resize it.
