Shipping TC barrels?
« on: November 06, 2003, 04:45:48 PM »
Spoke to a lady at UPS today, she said barrels (without a frame) had to be shipped to an FFL.  I know she's wrong, but is there any special packaging req'd and do they even have to know what you're shipping? thx

i just went to the post office and shipped a 13" 6br encore barrel to vvcg by priority mail. should be no problem with a barrel only. they didn't ask what it was.
now in a couple months, vvcg will ship me a new 15" 6br, no charge!  they will back up their product, as i've found out  :-)

Always tell them the item is "gun repair parts" no firearms.

you are right, the post office never asks, but UPS always asks because of the $100 insurance they offer.

US postal service is faster, cheaper, and you can get a delivery confirmation for $.50 more.  I ship my contender barrels thru the post office.

Shipping thru UPS

MKEE, contact customerservice@ups.com, they will give you the information you need in this matter.  Be sure to make a copy of reply, so you can take it to UPS with you.

I Had some trouble trying to ship a couple black powder pistols thru UPS, was told they had to go to a FFL, and by Next Day Air.  Contacted UPS Customer Service, and found that was incorrect.  Took copy of UPS Customer Service reply with to my local UPS and told them they had better read the reply from Customer Service.  The UPS manager wasn't very happy, about having to follow UPS procedures. But I suspect he did'nt want me to re-contact UPS.  I believe some of the UPS employees either just don't know UPS own rules, or they are part of the Anti-gun crowd and want to play games.......
