Badlands Packs - which would you choose?
« on: February 12, 2010, 10:37:20 AM »
I came into an unexpected extra 200.00 this month. I have been thinking about investing is a good pack for some time.
My criteria is a a fairly low profile quality Daypack/ emergency pack  (should an event arise where I need to wait it
out overnight in cold weather temps).

After reading reviews I have decided on a Badlands. I have narrowed it down to 2 packs ,

Superday approx retail 169.00 (found one on sale for 130.00)
WEIGHT   3 lb. 15 oz.
DIMENSIONS   20" x 13" x 7.5"
CAPACITY   1950 ci
POCKETS   9
SCOPE   Yes
BOW   Yes
RIFLE   Yes
HYDRATION   100 oz. (not incl)
CAMO   AP or Max1

Whitetail Hybrid -approx retail 189.00 (found one on sale for 150.00)
WEIGHT   4 lb. 2 oz.
DIMENSIONS   20" x 12" x 11"
CAPACITY   1980 ci
POCKETS   Infinity + 1
SCOPE   Yes
BOW   Yes
RIFLE   Yes
HYDRATION   NO
CAMO   AP or Max1

Anyone have any real hands on experience with either of these 2 packs? Pros / cons?
Any input provided greatly appreciated.

Was hoping for some input from those that have field tested either of these packs ..
Thought I would repost for a second attempt to gather input from those in the know

Scootrd,
Can't give you any hands on experience regarding these specific packs, but I would recommend going for the lowest possible profile you can find.  I just returned from a trip where I used my Hunters Element Elevation pack and it was a little too high when crawling under brush ect.  Out of the 2 you've choosen I like the Whitetail as it tapers away from your shoulders which should save it from snagging on brush.  I've got the Badlands Bino Case (with the magnetic) opening and it's excellent.  I'm thinking of either the Mag fanny (I really love the magnetic opening, very quiet), or the Monster as they are low on your back.  Good luck with your purchase.
Cheers
Craig
