After 60 years of a Kennedy in public office, there shall be no more after next November. Patrick Kennedy, Ted's son announced he won't re-enter the race for Senator from Rhode Island.

You mean congressman Kennedy, not senator. Anyway, point well taken. Good news. I look forward to the day when we don't have to hear the Kennedy name.

It helps to create a dynasty when your grandfather was a criminal that made his fortunes by stealing from the the American people.

From what I've read old man Joe made mega buck importing Scotch Whiskey, most of it during Prohibition and by selling scrap metal to pre WWII Germany.

He made a literal fortune scamming stock trades on Wall Street. Made millions and millions and millions fooling the system. Roosevelt hired him to form the SEC. Roosevelt knew he needed to hire the guy that knew how to exploit the loop holes to close them up. It worked. Joe Kennedy did an excellent job proposing the fixes that resulted in regulatory changes. He had already made his multi millions stealing and he wanted to do a good job for Roosevelt. Joe thought if he did a good job forming and heading the SEC that Roosevelt would appoint him to a senior post like Secretary of State. It never happened but he was appointed as  US Ambassador to Great Britain. He hated the job and hated Roosevelt for not giving him a high post.

Your right, he did make millions in booze during prohibition as well

when a congressperson with a special entitlement government medical program and billions of his own personal fortune dies a painful, agonizing death while trying to shove socialized medicine on the rest of us.... I felt euphoric that day.  hate me if you want, I had a damn good day that day, I was high-fiving people at work because of it.  I'm glad karma caught up to him.
