Bedding forestock?

Hi there, Has anyone ever tried to bed their Encore forestock and if so did it make any difference in accuracy? Is there a link if this post has already be discussed?

Do you mean glass bed? No but did work a wood one over for a heavy blue barrel. Got inletting black out and wood chisels and worked it over, made sure it had even contact everywhere there was barrel touching wood then free floated the section forward of the front screw and releaved wood on the ears that come back over the frame making sure that they weren't touching anything. Did it help, not much. On the plastic ones about all I have ever done was to releave the inside ears that come back over the frame and tighten the forearm down real good making sure there is no rocking movement forward or backward or sideways. I have been pillar bedding mine. Seriously I havent seen a change in accuracy yet. I think torquing the screw equally is the most important thing

Ok Thanks guys. I was hoping it would improve accuracy. When you say torqueing the screws, how much torque or just `german torque specs`: GOOT n TIGHT

I can't speak with any authority about Encores but I have quite a bit of experience with Contenders.  I thing that floating the barrel in the forearm channel and making sure that the ears are off of the frame do the most.  I have used spacers under the screws, O rings, electricians tape, and am now using shims made from 12 gage shotgun shells cut in half long way and a hole for the screw punched in them.  They all work.

I have made a hanger to free float acouple of barrel that seemed to help some.
