Upgrade of my Mini Mortar
« on: February 14, 2010, 04:38:10 AM »
I settled on the necessary upgrades to my Mini Cohern to be sure it will hold up to the steel balls now available , here are the results . Anybody remember my 4-Pac ?

I tested one today with lead balls and a heavy charge , the results are good .

I tested with 1F , 2F , & 4f for strength . Only 1 ball was recovered at a range of 50 yds.

I will have these ready to sell by the middle of this week .  Armorer77

Armorer77,
I see by the snow on the table in the second photo that you are now conducting some fracture toughness tests on 1018 steel that has been exposed to extreme fluctuations of hot and cold temperatures. ;)
Your mini mortars are looking good, and I plan to be contacting you soon about one of your pieces.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.
