NEW TC ENCORE 308 TEST DRIVE
« on: February 14, 2010, 11:11:16 AM »
I finally got to try out my new rig. I bought a muzzleloader, but haven't shot it yet. I wanted to buy a 6.5 barrel of unknown type as of yet, but TC extended the rebate another 2 months. Couldn't pass this up.

I got a 308 encore 26" heavy contour. I topped it with a SWFA 10x tactical scope.

I tested it out @ my back yard 60yard range. Using Fiocchi 150GR SP, once sighted (which took half a box to hit paper) I shot a 4 shot group into a big ragged hole, about 1/2" in diameter.

I took a couple o more shots using a diferent 150gr sp (using SST) but that did not group to the same point, so I called it a day.

Pretty happy so far.

Scope is real nice too. I was worried about the off brand, but there is a lot of good feedback. It is as good or beter than any leupold variable I have ever owned, with very nice tactical knobs and mil-dot recticle.

I'm always happy to read good results when Encore fans try new barrels and have nice groups.  I love my Encore, and am always looking to try new barrel combinations.  My 22-250 puts 3 shots through the same raggy hole at 50 yds, and about 3/4" groups at 100.  The groups get bigger at 200 yds, but I'm hoping that they get better as the barrel gets used more and gets "seasoned."  Keep the shooting info coming.....
