Went to the range to true in a new Contender barrel. When that was done I sat three gallon jugs of water at 100 yards to play a bit before I packed it up. First round was a 7.62 x 39 124 gr HP from the new barrel. Nice busted jug. Second was a 250 gr JHP from a hot loaded 45 LC thru my 454 rifle. Nicer busted jug. Third was too much fun. A 300 gr JHP Magnum Hornady is running a squirt over 2000 fps from my 454 Casull rifle. The jug acted as if dynamite went off in it. Pieces of it landed in three different places and what was left of the main body landed about 10 feet away. I'm glad I had the range to myself as I giggled and laughed like a fool. I'm thinking this round is going to do well on hogs. Next time I'll try out the 240 gr JHP magnum Hornadys I have loaded up that are running around 2200 fps.
