I will never use them again to ship a muzzleloader. Went yesterday to my local outlet which I have shipped many times from before, but this time I got the wicked witch of the dems.

I never could get her to understand the difference between a muzzleloader vs firearm. She said UPS can't even ship a pellet rifle...BS!!

Took the White rifle to USPS today as yesterday was a federal holiday, and they shipped it no problem as long as there was no powder of live ammo in the box.

I will never use UPS for shipping anything ever again. I've had it with their crap!!

(still might accept items from them though...)

Don't just let it drop. We've got to fight that kind of BS. A polite letter to the facility manager suggesting both technical and attitude training for that particular indivdual is in order.

I've ran into this twice in the last year. It's not UPS, it's their local "remote" drop off centers. I have a UPS account thru Paypal and can get a will call label and the driver will pick it up right at my house. Also had this happen at The UPS Store. They are NOT affiliated with UPS, just a remote drop off that makes there cut from shipping and charges out the @$$ for packaging. My local FFL/brick and mortor mom and pop gun shop can ship direct with UPS no problem as well. Don't know if corporate UPS is even aware of the problem, but they are losing sales because of this. USPS works for me now and they are doing a fine job at it.

Its not over yet if I can find where the UPS policy allows muzzleloader to be shipped. Usually takes alot to get me riled, she did it...

I live in a very gun friendly part of an anti state. I see folks dropping stuff off in a TC box with a beautiful color pic of the gun on the side of the box...lol

This is the only policy I could come up with, nothing on muzzleloaders, maybe the 3rd party clause near the bottom is what she was saying. I hate to lie to people (usually comes back) I thought of telling them it was golf clubs...lifes too short for this!! USPS has my business from now on.

I went thru hell with both UPS and Fedex trying to ship ammo late last fall and gave up. I still plan on calling higher up people but havent done it yet. I think they are all scared to make a mistake and lose their jobs, among other reasons such as being idiots.

I dont have any trouble with USPS shipping anything that they are allowed to ship (unfortunetely they dont ship ammo). They must have a lot more training about their shipping policies. Priority Mail is pretty fast.

went to ups got the came crap . Told the gal "I'll just take it to the post office" and after explaining that the p.o. did not have any problems with shipping a long gun it was suddenly o.k. for them to accept it.

Back to the 'plastic wood and machined steel parts' lifes too short to argue with store clerks and rise in blood pressure.

I went to UPS to awhile back to ship my Walther PPKS back to S&W for a repair. I told him it was a firearm and they just took it without a problem. Depends on who you get.
Fed Ex was a real laugher. About 5 or six years ago I was sending my Browning Hi Power to Browning for a repair. The clerk was petrified when I said it was a pistol. After making several phone calls he said he had to check it to make sure it was unloaded. He unwrapped the box while sweating up a storm took the gun out and was looking at it every which way. While waving it around, he was pointing it at some of the customers who starting ducking. I took the gun from him and opened the action and dropped the clip. He looked this way and that way and finally came to the conclusion it "appeared" there was no ammo in the gun. This was an hour ordeal from start to finish.

I never use UPS if I can help it. They won't ship any type of gun for me, they break a lot of stuff, and they are slow as Christmas. USPS for me thank you. I use FedEx for handguns.

I know this isn't exactly the same thing that has been discussed, But I actually had a g2 contender rifle replaced by T/C and shipped back to me by fedex that was left standing up by my wifes grandmother's (she lives next door) back door. I came home from work and seen it leaning against the house. It plainly stated adult signature required on the box in big printed letters and was pretty obvious from box it was a gun.

My model 1886 Win (circa 1887) came to my door by the mailman. My Dad was pretty upset as he didn't want that kind of publicity. I was living at his place outside San Diego at the time. Bought the rifle off Gunbroker. Didn't require any "licensing" and was shipped to my door - and left leaning against the porch. UPS lost a shipment of ammo and when I put in the claim, they accussed me of actually having it and making a false claim! The shipper replaced the ammo, sent it Fedex with no issues. Shipper said they would take it up with UPS. I knew I left their employment for a reason!

Don't blame UPS, it is the outlets that have there own policies. Some outlets are gun friendly and some are not. I have one guy that thinks everything I send is a gun. He is a great guy to deal with, and I have everything packaged up before I get there, and the shipping paper work filled out ahead of time.

UPS will ship it, it is just getting the anti-gun outlet stores to package them up. Remember, most of them stores hire people off the streets, and when they are told the rules, they just make it easy on themselves and don't allow any guns.

Contact the outlets manager and see what there police is. Then find one that is gun friendly, and only use them. Package it up yourself and tell them you are shipping parts.

I just sent two rifles through UPS had a pick up no problem at all. Yes those outlets are run buy liberals that think thier s#$# don't stink. But thier farts give them away LOL no sierously they are a bunch of jerks that run those satilite stores. Fed-x wants you to sent anything considered a firearm over night till I set them straight that only applies to handguns. Never had a problem with the postal service with sending rifles, shotguns, or ML'ers. lou

I ship long guns via USPS and never had a problem and have it packaged before I get there. They never ask what's in the box. The UPS store near here is higher than an eagle's rump on Mt. Everest and I wouldn't use them to ship anything. Fedex is cheaper and their ground service is about as fast as Priority mail. For handguns--I get my FFL to ship it for me through USPS. He charges $30-35 to send it priority mail and thats a lot cheaper than UPS or Fedex .next day rates. When I lived in Baton Rouge, I used a local shipping service and they would ship it however u wanted and never asked what's in the box. I shipped a Tar-ass back for repairs using regular ground shipping.
Its not a federal rule to ship it next day air.

You are required by law to tell them it's a firearm in writing. If you don't it's a felony.

Doesn't say anything about putting anything in writing here on the ATF.GOV website
