..But all the reputable versions of the Bible say the same thing. The veracity and accuracy of the transfer of Scriptures was proven each time another of the Dead Sea scrolls was opened and translated.
Most of the Dead Sea Scrolls were written a millennia before the Koran was even a gleam in the camel driver's eye.

ironglow, when someone is out to dispute the validity of the Bible, it is useless to try and debate. Their intent is to destroy the validity, not listen to it's wisdom. One either believes the Word, or one does not. One either wants to learn, or one wants to disprove.

2002 AD: The English Standard Version (ESV) is Published as a translation to bridge the gap between the accuracy of the NASB and the readability of the NIV.

Whoa now Dee, I am not trying to dispute or destroy anything. I read the Bible and I believe it's the word of God. I am just responding to fact that the bible has gone through numerous historical reiterations by man. anytime man sticks his finger in the pie , there is always an opportunity something is lost. The further we stray away from original manuscripts, the further room for error. For example The KJV didnt even appear until 1611 AD, that 1 thousand , 600 + years... and how many reiterations before that? I enjoy Bible study. and if we really wanted to get closer to the early texts it would be great if we could study the Vulgate. unfortunately I don't read latin.

Even within our own Christianity the Catholics don't follow KJV they follow the Douay-Rheims Bible so even us Christians don't have a consensus on what Bible to follow.

On topic of Dead seas scrolls

The dead sea scrolls are divided into 3 types of scrolls.
"Biblical" manuscripts which comprise roughly 40% of the identified scrolls;

"Apocryphal" manuscripts which comprise roughly 30% of the identified scrolls. (known documents from the Second Temple Period like Enoch, Jubilees, Tobit, Sirach, non-canonical psalms, etc., that were not ultimately canonized  This term was applied applied to writings that were hidden not because of their divinity but because of their questionable value to the church. (so basically the church just picked and chose what they wanted to includebased on what was best for them) , I ask what right do they have to do so?

"Sectarian" manuscripts which comprise roughly 30% of the identified scrolls. (previously unknown documents that speak to the rules and beliefs of a particular group or groups within greater Judaism) like the Community Rule, War Scroll, Pesher  on Habakkuk, and the Rule of the Blessing. These are not "Biblical texts" they are societal scripts.

In regards to the likes of Wescott, & Hoyt, and their "new and improved" versions such as the NIV, and NKJVs and the like. These Bibles started arriving from England (Europe) in the early 60s into this country. Around 1963. I have done much study, and in comparison to the KJV, have over 60,000 deletions, and or, changes. Many of the changes or wording, or substitutions, are WORD CHANGING in scope. Some of the deletions are WORD CHANGING in scope. With this I agree fully.
With that said, I will leave it there, and will not debate.

Wescot & Hort had their little game, but things get sorted out...and they get booted out..
Scootrd; that's exactly what I mean..the Biblical manuscripts compare so closely that there is virtually no difference to what is in today's Bible; certainly no meanings have changed.
Whose word are we to accept..detractor's or God's ? I'll stick with God, thank you !  (ISAIAH 40 & verse eight)

Of course, we have strayed far from the origin of this thread..the Taliban are still at their little game, but it is drawing to a close for a number of them in the city of Marjah..

I don't think a scuffle in Marjah is any sign of the end of the Taliban. It is far, far, far, from over, and a lot of blood will spill before the futility is finally realized. You shoot one, and three more pop up. This is a religion not a movement that is being fought. It will not end, in one little town, and anywhere else for that matter. God will be the one whom sets them right. Not us.

Winning at Marjah will settle nothing.  NATO and the US have a plan to control the the major Afghan cities.  Yep, NATO and the US will control the cities while Al Queda and the Taliban control the rural areas. If this sounds familiar it is the same thing that we did in Viet Nam.  The US has steadfastly refused to go after countries like Saudi Arabia who bankroll the Taliban.

The scriptures are the Word of Go and they do not return void from those intended.
I twill be difficult for us to remove a final vestige of the Taliban--much as in another conflict--they fight a different war.
Blessings

Man had nothing to do with the Bible.  It is God's perfect Word.

I don't think the idea is to wipe out the taliban, but perhaps to get them to a level manageable by the Afghan govt & people.
