« on: February 17, 2010, 01:13:31 PM »
Was just wondering if anyone, had any thoughts on the Alaskan Titanium rifle.
Accuracy, handling, etc.
Thanks

I'd love to own one....but I find the price hard to justify.  A stainless Mountain rifle will give you the same gun at a fraction of the cost.  A very good friend of mine who I shoot with weekly has one in 06...it's very, very nice and he only paid $1,600 for it.  It's alot of $$ for what you get in my opinion, though I'm not exactly unbiased...I shoot a blued, KS mountain rifle in 06 that I bought in the 90's for about $600.  The same rifle, pretty much, but not Ti.

GL and let us know what you decide.

Found a few online, saw one brand new (supposedly) for $1400, the rest were in the $1600-1700 range.

I understand what its based off of, and what it is made for.  For me though I'd save $500-700, get a nice rifle still, and hike the extra 2-3lbs around.  And yes, before someone chimes in about how much of a difference two pounds makes I've got more than enough experience running around with lots of gear on my body.  Maybe when I'm 70 it will make a difference, but to me now, it's a marketing gimmick that sells rifles to guys who like to brag about how light their rifle is.
