I like the looks of a nice full length stock. Anyone know someone that can make one for my H&R?

Well not really D.W.G. you have a factory original and we'll just have a made up gun that's trying to look as good as yours.

Well, when you compare H&R mannlicher forends, the best looking of all is the original Model 157 with the metal forend cap.

  Tim,
I'm worried about you. Collecting pictures of other people's Handi's?

How about a Manlicher with a buffalo horn tip instead of the metal forend piece.

I had a 158 .22 hornet just like that; that someone had rebored to .222 remington. At the time I didn't know about reloading and sold the rifle because the chamber was to tight and factory ammo would cause the gun to pop open when you fired it. I sold it off cause it scared me a couple of times. If I knew then what I know now it would still be in the safe

Why not try to yourself??

I have made a couple and its not awful hard and very satisfying to have it on your own gun..

That's because yours appears to be a Handi made by H&R1871, the Topper 157 was made by H&R Inc that went out of business in 1986.

Yes it was offered one year only in 1995, there are rumors than the remaining forearms were fit to non matching stocks in 1996.

So this was H&Rs effort to make what the old company had made in the past.

Only cheaper  >:(

H&R found a whole sack full of the mannlicher forends(left over from 1995?) and sold them as accessories in 2005, they were $35 shipped with the plastic barrel band, a bunch of members here bought them, myself included, they didn't have the tip painted tho, but that would be an easy fix.

Here's mine. Topper 158 with straight grip stock, gold (colored) hammer, barrel band (from a Henry 001 lever .22) and mannlicher forend (via somebody who was selling 'em on eBay a couple of years back).  Love that rifle!

Note to self: gotta match the stain on the forend with the buttstock soon.  ::)
