A5 question
« on: February 17, 2010, 10:35:02 PM »
I looked at an A5 today and it had a switch or lever ahead of the trigger that I dont know what it does. the seller thought it was a single shot switch of some kind. He thought it would lock the bolt, but still allow it to fire. its a belgium made gun , if that helps.  anyone seen something like this before? thanks in advance. DR

There are 2 "switches"  The round button is the bolt release.  The flip out hinged contraption is a magazine cut off, that can turn your gun into a single shot, and allow you to eject the shell in the chamber, and replace it with another, different type shell without having to cycle the rest of the shells out of the magazine.

thank you! with the mag cut off, will the bolt be held open after firing? so I could drop another in front of the bolt and chamber with the bolt release? thanks again . DR.

Yes, the bolt stays open.

thank you very much. it seems to be a well cared for gun from the early 50s. its only flaw is some wear in the blueing where it must have ridden in a rack. its obviously been used but cared for. he wants $400 for it. DR
