I live in south Indy.  :-[ :(. But I used to live in Laporte (about 28 yrs. ago) had some good huntin' up there. hate living in the urban environment, but it's what you had to do in order to live and (in my case) stay sober. 30yrs sober so I guess it worked ;D just retired and trying to figure out if I'm going to hunt anymore. would really like to find some farmers that need woodchuck control. that would be GOOD times. ;D

Welcome to GBO and our little section of it.  Stay often and as long as you like! There's been some mentions of groundhogs here, but most importantly, when talking to those farmers, ask them about hogs. I'm hog wild to find some wild pork. It's what's for dinner. ::)

Thanks, Dinny

Live in Huron just south of Bedford plenty of Nat forrest around to hunt. Dinny I have a friend that lives in Salem and he has heard there are hogs down your way. A few people have got some hogs around the Leesville area but haven't heard of anybody killing any for a while.

I live in salem, IN, (washington county) and hunt mainly here, lawrence county (around Huron), and occasionally get out of state.  And Mr. redbarn is my hunting buddy.  Would love to tag a hog.  Got a 45/70 that needs to bring home some bacon.

Gentlemen,
Welcome to our great forum here within the best forum on the web! Thanks for the info, we need to make some confirmations on where some hogs are currently located. So far we haven't found the elusive "smoking gun" i.e. a farmer with a hog problem.  That will get the posse round-up and moving in for the kill.  :)

Thanks, Dinny

I live in Cass County and walk out my front door to go hunting. I know, lucky you! I have lived in the area all my life and have hunted the same ground my entire life. I am 54. I have been so fortunate to have this in my life. Believe me, I don't take it for granted. I have creeks and marsh bottoms, ridges and hollers and farm fields surrounding the same ground. White Oak and Red Oak on the ridges along with Beech trees. It has been my personal paradise and that's where my ashes will be scattered one day. GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON AND STAY SAFE!

Hi all,
I was transplanted to NM about 9 years ago but I figger I'll always be a Hoosier.  Was born and lived in Elkhart Co. for the first 50 years of my life.  Hunted, fished most of that time.  News story last week about feral hogs in the Rio Grande bosque (wooded bottom land)  That's the first I've heard of them here.
Congrats on 30 goofyoldfart,  I'm right behind ya at 25.

Skinman I am jealous!  I do go out the back door to hunt. Woods are about 100 yards from the house ;)

Welcome to all you guys for stopping by and visiting. Pull up a chair and stay a while. We welcome anyone with new stories and experiences.

Greetings;

I'm new around here.  I'm a transplanted buckeye, via Louisville, KY.  Now, I'm on the north side of Greenwood in Johnson County.  I'm actually hoping to go deer hunting for the first time this year.

My best friend lives in LaPorte. I usually go up for Dove at Kingsbury or JP. I did alot of fishing at Pine lake too. I was born and raised in Portage but moved to southern In 17 years ago when I retired. Not to many Woodchucks here probably because of the coyotes. Nothing like it was up there. Coyotes are in season so try them.

Welcome Wingnut3, I knew I was not the only one in Salem area hunting :D. I too have hunted a little in Otisco. I just dont get over there much. It is easier to go out back and hunt.

About where are you in Salem? I am out in South Boston.

Welcome

You, my friend, have my fullest attention..

As Dinny said, you have my undivided attention!  While I'm hoping to go deer hunting this year for the first time, my goal has always been to be able to go hog hunting (lets face, bacon makes everything better).  I can be in that part of the stat in about an hour and 15 minutes, so if there is a weekend hog hunt, I would love to join you.

I live in West Terre Haute (not in town, thankfully) out in the country past Saint Mary of the Woods College. I hunt a mile from my house, and also down in Vincennes as well as Loogootee.
I was just up that way this weekend, your only about 40 minutes or so from me,  only I'm on the Illinois side of the river.

Just signed up on this site.   I'm near Lanesville and hunt almost exclusively on public ground,  Hoosier National Forest mostly.  Love deer and turkeys the best but hunt and fish year round.  Looking forward to learning a lot on hear about tricking out a handi!  Lonny tells me I'm gonna get addicted!

Welcome aboard!
