Seems to be a very thin line between a Terrorist and a Patriot.
Some will say the founders of this nation were guilty of vandalism , theft and treason.
That our fathers are guilty of mass murder for bombing Japan.
While others including my self say no they were Patriots.
Some champion freedom and clamor about infringements to that fredom.
And then they cry nut case and terrorist when the means to defend that freedom gets messy.
I don't know Mr Stack or what was on his mind, or whether he was even in his right mind.
I do share a common enemy with him a government run by tyrants, But I don't share his methodology
of how to best fight them. One thing I do know is he now stands before a judge who is fair and all knowing.
May he have mercy on his soul and all of us.

Pat

All I will say is it seems that man was pushed too far. His problems may have been caused by him, or at least by his inability to deal with them. Everyone has a point that they wont be pushed any farther, he reached his. It seems to me that it takes a lot to take up a "weapon" to try and kill the thing that is making you  hurt so bad that you cant see the reasonable way out!

In this line of thinking Oldshooter, it would seem that he took up a weapon (in this case a hard inappropriate landing in a plane) and killed HIMSELF. Could he have been the one, making himself hurt so bad?
I see him as inefficient! If the rat is eating your cheese, do you put your own hand in the trap, so that you can no longer bait the trap? Or do you simply "bait and set" the demise of the rat? He accomplished nothing for himself, and has some explaining to do, to the one that gave him that precious breath, called life. He in reality, needlessly, and selfishly abandoned his family.

Sanity and common sense tells me he did wrong. An innocent life was lost that most likely had nothing to do with his situation. He should have tried a different approach.
However, a small part of me understands his frustration with our government machine and I agree that we will probably see more of this in the future.

I thought that is what I said, other than the answering part , but that, I thought was understood! from now on I'll just not post and then you can say what I shudda said before i said it.

Matt:

Bill Benson made his argument 71 years after the 16th amendment was passed.  His research and arguments have been rejected in court.  If his argument was valid, I find it amazing that numerous U.S.  history professors didn't earn their PHD writing dissertations on this issue.  If his point was valid, why did 71 years go by before anyone challenged the law?  Did all earlier Americans love paying taxes and follow the law like sheep?

It has been argued by many on this site that we are a Republic.  I watched a video on this site,  that was acclaimed by many, that stated a Republic is defined by following the rule of law, and that our Constitution is the law of our nation.  Our 16th Amendment says Congress can collect taxes on income.  This is a valid as our 2nd Amendment.  And like the 2nd Amendment, it has been upheld in court.

Bill Benson was a tax dodger trying to find a way to wiggle out of his responsibility so I would have to pay more taxes.

No, I am not with the IRS.  However, if I am paying my way so should everyone else.  No freeloaders allowed.  My tax share is increased by a tax dodger. Not paying my taxes is like living on government assistance.   I take all the legal deductions I can, but we pay taxes like all our bills - on time.

Joseph Stack was a domestic terrorist just like Tim McVeigh.  If an Islamic terrorist had crashed a plane into that building everyone would be raising holy hades.  Some are actually making excuses for Stack's actions.  Sadly,  this idiot will become a cult hero for some of the really far outers.

Stack was wrapped around the axle by his elaborate conspiracy theory/ies.  Most, if not all, of Stack's setbacks in life were of his own making.  Stack even hated the Catholic church for its tax exempt status.

At the time of his death Stack owned a $100,000 aircraft and a half interest in a hanger.  He lived in a nice home with a pretty wife.  Stack became so deranged and obsessed that his wife left him a couple weeks ago.  Stack burned down his home and in pure Islamic suicide terrorist fashion crashed his plane into a building.  Now his wife and kid have nothing.

Stack was a terrorist who killed innocent folks and impoverished his family because he was obsessed with demons of his own making.  Stack was pond scum.

Here is Stack's "manifesto."

Stack's wife apologized to the victims of her husband's misplaced wrath.

Quote
The wife of the crazed pilot who slammed his plane into a Texas building said she was devastated by her husband's suicide mission that also killed a Vietnam vet who worked inside.

"Words cannot adequately express my sorrow or the sympathy I feel for everyone affected by this unimaginable tragedy," Andrew Joseph Stack's wife, Sheryl, said in a statement read by her lawyer, Rayford Walker.

"Due to the ongoing investigation related to this tragedy, I feel it best to make no comment beyond this statement, and to not respond to questions of any nature," she said.

Yep, Stack is already a cult hero of the tinfoil hat brigade.  Anyone who thinks that Stack is a hero is a truly sick puppy.

"Finally an American man took a stand against our tyrannical government that no longer follows the Constitution," wrote Emily Walters of Louisville, Ky.
........................................

According to The New York Daily News, Walters was one of the many people on the social networking circuit who founded Joe Stack fan pages to honor the kamikaze pilot.

People were also sounding off via Twitter.

"Joe Stack, you are a true American Hero and we need more of you to make a stand," tweeted Greg Lenihan of San Diego, according to the paper.
.........................................

"His sacrifice was for all of us," wrote Texan Tyler Britten on Facebook, according to the paper.

He's no hero to me. He's a dead idiot! If he wanted to lead a cause, he should have staged a demonstration, or something. I have heard a lot of talk against the Muslim martyr here, by a lot of folks, and I agree, but regardless, the Muslim feels he is right.
How can one be for a martyr in this circumstance? Like someone said. The taxpayer will pick up the tab on this one, and the family the pieces.

Yes, it will be used against the Tea Party or to some tea baggers or to any group deemed Conservative by the Leftist Media. Even though he had a strange mix of statements that would associate him with Libs/Communists & far right as well. It would be stupid to put him in any group, as saying he did this due to his far left or far right ideas. Bottom line is he was thinking of himself here & was a nutjob, pure & simple.

It is humorous how the main stream media folks are ignoring the Political leanings of the Woman who went nuts in AL., how she is a big time Lib & a big time Obama disciple. Just doesn't dovetail with their goals.

NS..I think we are agreeing on something...I think anyway...The woman in AL has a history, but her recent rampage has little use by the oligarchy, plus she and family are highly connected. This Joe Stack guy has plenty of use however...already we have forum members throwing out the terms conspiracy nutter, 'domestic terrorists', tin foiler, deranged, right-left winger, anti-government,,, and even the line between muzzie terrorist and domestic terrorist is being blurred by team favorite FOXNews and a few forum members, and so on ad nauseuem. This is one crisis-event that is not going to go to waste.....we the people will now need to be protected from the evil deranged 'domestic terrorist' and privately owned aircraft will have to be much more closely controlled. Afterall, a terrorist, whether a religious extremist or a domestic anti-government extremist are about one in the same. Either way you're going to have to give up a little more freedom and liberty for you security. It is amazing how even free men posters on this site are going along with this. A high corral is being built.

BTW,,,from the looks of damage and fire in that building its a miracle it didn't collapse.. ;)

..TM7

yes, I mention the woman just showing her act won't be used the same way for obvious reasons, her being a Lib & a Obama supporter has nothing to do with what she did, just a nutjob.

Yes, we agree on something,  kinda scary.      ;D

They finally released the identity of the only other fatality in this besides the pilot.  Vernon Hunter, 67, a veteran who served two tours in Vietnam.

OK I have been wondering, his plane was probably worth more than he owed in taxes, why didn't he not just sell it and pay the taxes.

This and some other things he did make me think he was about a half a bubble off.

Sad to hear of the Veteran loosing his life!

Very good point.

By some accounts Stack owed about $1,500 in back taxes.  Stack obsessed about the IRS for decades until he became a fruitcake.

Joe apparently had a history of problems with the IRS where he forgot to file a tax return and was audited because he and his wife forgot to report about $12,700 in income.

I saw where his daughter, said she was proud of him and that she thought he was a hero. She deserved him to be a better one! She loved him unconditionally. She deserved better.
