Protection for Extra Buttstocks
« on: February 18, 2010, 12:03:11 PM »
I hate wrapping stuff up in bubblewrap, but I hate dingers in my stocks too. A quick look around the shop today and I spotted an old, size large pistol case. The BC buttstock was a perfect fit and easy to get at when I need to. I think I'll keep my eye out for a couple more used ones at the next gun show.

I just use old, long crew socks.  They are hard to get on, but stay in place and protect the stock until you need it.  Also use them for forearms.  44 Man

ME TOO!!

Also works GREAT for the safe queen pistols as well.. the ones I really like get a set of socks!!  ;D ;D
While we are on the topic, I also like the silicone gun socks for long guns. I remove scopes of guns that I don't use with regularity so they fit very nice and keep the "safe hickeys" to a minimum!!

Socks work for pistol cases too.

Here in Wisconsin our DNR regulation is that the 'case' must completely cover all parts of the gun, ie, no exposure, and be 'specifically' made for a firearm. Homemade cases conforming to these reg's qualify, socks dont I would guess. Of course, this is for transport outside of one's home, but still.......! The 'gun case lobby' must have got to them.
I like stuff that will do multiple duty so a zippered pistol case that affords me great protection and access to my spare wood is great.
BTW, I like socks too.
