Pinned barrel
« on: February 19, 2010, 11:18:15 AM »
I have heard that it will group better, but my concern is cleaning the gun. Any problems?

I never take the barrel off mine. Just clean it with the barrel on.

what about the mag. tube. On my 11-87 and 1100 cleaning this and the gas seals is a regular thing.

Sorry I didn't know what gun you had. My 870 I glued- epoxyed the slug barrel in-IMO it's better than pinning. My 1100 has the scope mounted on the barrel and I removed the gas rings and use it as a straight pull bolt. Both I just spray out with a good cleaner. Even a epoxyed barrel can be removed, just heat to 200deg. and remove.

The barrel on my 870 is pinned with a machine screw.  I just unscrew it and the cap and the barrel comes right off.
