Living for 20 years in NW Alaska I learned that ther's no shortcuts to good foot health, keep them dry and insulated, a sweaty foot in a well insulated boot will be one of two things #1 you get a wet foot that can lead to trench foot the other is the insulation absorbs the moisture leading to a cold wet boot this will sap your body's heat bringing down your core temp.
Ive learned that batteries dont do well in the cold.
I like simple pack boots with felt liners and insoles with wool blend socks, swap into dry socks and liners as required.

Neat idea but like you said, batteries don't like the cold to begin with.  It would be cheaper to get a pair of battery operated socks for $25 and keep your favorite pair of broken in, already paid for boots.

It looks sturdy and very stylish! $250 is a bit expensive though. But I should start checking one for this winter season- I would definitely need it these coming days!
