Incredible Artillery Model
« on: February 22, 2010, 08:05:57 AM »
I know this piece doesn't fit in our usual historic time period, but I coudn't resist posting it for Zulu. This fantastic model is made out of mahogany and brass, and it was being offered on an auction site for only $6,900.00.:o  The seller claimed that it might be a patent (not) model of a 5-inch, 38 caliber naval deck gun, and its 29-inches long, 12-inches wide, 12-inches tall.

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

Zulu,

This was one of those "buy it now" deals on eBay, and while I think its a really fine model, I don't think its 69 hundred fine. The seller ended the listing as sold, but he probably took a 'best offer' on it, although on eBay one never knows for sure.
