Before both my boys went to boot at Ft. Benning I told them to remember what I had showed them and they did. When both were low on energy they would pick and eat prickly pear fruit off cactus for energy, and when my oldest was in Alaska on winter survival he took a frozen canteen and killed tarnagin with it. None of his guys lost much weight for that 2 weeks. Two small examples of makin do. The guys both were with thought they were crazy, but followed their lead and ate better.

I really think that now, as then, you get out of kids what you expect and how you raise them.
My mom was always a working mom and I was a latch key kid, well-cept we didn't have no key to the house.
The enviroment was differnt and without the drugs and gangs and other folks watching out.
