Allen, i didn't know you could shoot a mortar, bring it along anyway.

It's been years since I fired one and I am just now putting it together...... something a little different.

Just got another 'care package' from Richard (the ...).  ANother couple of items for awards at the shoot.

Spent some time at the range in Blacksburg today, talked to a couple of guys about the board and the 3AANRVM&CD in July.  One had been to the N-SSA shoots in Winchester and the other had his son there & was shooting a 2" cannon and a tennis-ball caliber mortar.

I will be bringing the black-powder log-splitter to the shoot.  Dale said he'd arrange to have some wood to split too.

Most gracious of you.

We'll have a MUCH better idea of how big this is going to be at the end of June or so.

At some point in time, Dale & I will walk the ground to get a grip on what to do where.  I'll keep y'all posted.

Tim, i'm going to solve a problem for you.
Since the range is about 10 miles from where i live, i'll just stay home.
Anybody that shows up at your shoot, and is a member of this board, like Mike and Tracy, is more than welcome to stop by, where i live.
We can shoot small cannons and mortars here, and i know Tim won't like this part- even fly a Confederate Flag.

Now Lance that won't do...... You are a part of this and have played an important in the planning..... besides how are you going to
uphold the honor of your town letting some low land east coaster from Chesapeake (and a x-Yankee to boot) win the Balloonen shoot?  ;D

I'm still building a Balloon gun, still flying Confederate flags, and while i'm at it-Allen you will get along with Tim very well because he is a yankee.

This is OK.  Great competition going here!

This baloon shooting contest is quickly developing a distinct N-S flavor.

Rools say that neither party (neither Lance nor Allen) can secede from the contest now - it's a matter of histerical honor!

Maybe sometime we can plan a Left Coast - Right Coast competition.

BUT HO!   We are on the EASTERN continental divide....    ;D

YUP.  Going to add the ultimate challange.

Golf-ball skeet.

IF anyone hits ONE they win a prize.

Can it be done?

Will anyone step up to the plate and accept the challange?

So I guess the balloon guns will pull double duty loaded with loose shot.....

how many people have Swivel guns?

This sounds like something one of those stocked flintlock grenade launchers might be adapted to.....

Allen,   Like this one which Mike and I found at Ft. Ticonderoga in upstate New York?  I believe it was a little over 2" Bore Dia., about 2 1/8" Dia.

M&T,

Back in 1981 I was working for a failing gun manufacturer I was trying to stick it out with them.....
I had not seen a paycheck in 6 weeks.......

that weekend there was an antique gunshow I scraped together a couple of hundred dollars in case I
saw something I had to have......... Well I got to handle a very nice German grenade launcher much
like the one in the photo..... 1981 price 1200.00 had I had my 6 weeks back pay I could have bought it  :'( ..........
the next week I got paid and two months later the closed their doors.... Such is life....

Gun show?  I just got back from Camp LeJeune/Jacksonville NC.  Visiting relatives.  Lots of windshield time to and back, good time there.

I really don't like to make two posts in a row, but it's been nine days, so how many folks are planning to show up for this shoot?
Do i still get a patch if i stay home and shoot? or do i have to shoot at the shoot to get a patch?

Three posts in a row, maybe i will be shooting alone? Anyway, i had some time today and worked on the Prototype balloon gun barrel. It's a blast, test fired with 150g of FFFg Goex, the golf ball went about 100yds, probably would have went farther, but it hit a tree. I don't have the machine tools that Krupp had, but i managed to make a breechloader, did i say it's a blast.

Three in a row is ok, but it won't be for another month or so that I'll get serious about looking at who's coming and making final plans.  Until then ....
