20 ga. "starter kit" giveaway. RETROSUB WON IT!!!!
« on: February 23, 2010, 06:18:43 PM »
I am wanting to help one of my fellow Handiholics get their kid, grandkids, nieces, nephews, etc. into the woods without breaking the bank.
First and foremost let me say that this is FOR A KID ONLY!!  Do not put your name in for this unless it's going to a youngster.

Here is what I am offering to some lucky young shooter. I have scrounged up all the parts (minus frame) to build a 20 ga. Pardner and I want to give it away to help enable some youngster to get started.

Here is what I have.
1. 22.5" 20 ga.barrel with brass bead. It's nothing fancy but it is in good shape. It was fitted to my frame with a very thin layer of steel epoxy but has not been shimmed. It may or may not need fitting to your frame.
2. A very nice adult length stock set with a factory recoil pad. It has a schnabel forearm also very nice.
3. An elastic shell holder for the stock. Holds 5 shells.
4. Sling studs already installed in the stock and forearm
5. I will dig up some sort of sling to go with it.

All you will need is your frame and some ammunition to start shooting.
Like I said... this is for a kid ONLY. So here's what I would like to do. (I hope this is cool with GB). If you are interested in this "starter kit" for your kid or kids... Just post here "PUT ME IN FOR THE STARTER KIT"
Do not post any kids names please. I want to run this until Saturday morning and then put all the responders names in a hat and draw one. Simple as that. If I pull your name your kid gets the "starter kit"  I will be responsible for all shipping costs. The offer goes from now until Saturday morning when I pull a name.

I have Spanky's permission to piggy-back on his offer, and will contribute a (new in box) set of Silencio lo-pro 2000 ear protectors. When Spanky decides on the winner, I'll send the ear muffs to whoever it is.

And yeah -- Great idea Spanky!!!  ;D

Spanky...Wonderful idea to get a young person started...My daughter just turned 16...Told her when she got her driver's permit we'd get her started hunting also. Likes fishing, camping, hiking, and target shooting (22's).  Hoping she'll like hunting as well. 20 gauge is perfect for
a young person...Thank you...Throw her hat in the ring...MIke

Good one spanky! I had the oppurtunity to start our friends son on a 410 they were surviving on 1 income at the time. He always enjoyed shooting when they came to visit. So we got it for him for his 12th birthday.
PS do not enter me in the drawing.

add this to the pot, if whoever gets this outfit finds the stock to be too long for his youngster, decide how long you want it, mark it, and send it to me. I will cut it to whatever length you desire and either refinish it or not, whatever the winner (child) wants. Perhaps the winnner and his younster would like to refinish it themselves as a project together. I will include the piece I cut off so it can be reattached as the younster grows into it the piece, that piece will be pre-drilled and all set to easily go back on to fit correctly....If the winner wants it redone as a straight stock I will do that as well, just let me know.
Thanks for your generosity Spanky and Tallyho, it's a great thing to see youngsters get involved in the spooting sports and hunting....<><....:)

I just discovered that the Lo-Pro muffs have been used by my son. He put them back in the package just to store them.

So the ear protectors will be Silencio Phoenix Ergonomic PHX-01 and these are definitely unused, and new! Here's what they look like:

.. and add a Stock modification by MSP Ret.. right on!  ;D

To All,

I contacted Spanky and he gave his okay! So, I'm in with the SB-1 frame/receiver and bolt! ;)

I will pay the FFL and shipping fee from my end, but will not be able to pay the fee at receiving end.

Good Luck with all the names in the hat!

This is the only place I have ever been where in about 24 hours, and ~4 members later a kid was setup for skeets, turkey and squirrel for absolutely free (not counting the FFL transfer)! Y'all are great.

Way to go guys but I just can't stand it ;) How can ya give a 20ga away

without sending any 20ga ammo...So being I ain't shot 20ga bird shot since getting my SXS 16ga I should have a decent supply of something just gettin old back there(ammo cabinet) Once the lucky youngster is found out send me the address and I will box up and send them some ammo. Kurt

update: I found 2 boxes of 6 shot, some 8 shot, some 4shot and I will send a couple of boxes of rifled slugs to round it up to about 100 rounds.
