It's a little semi auto 22lr pack rifle that weighs just under 1lb. It's kind of funky looking and I think it needs a trigger guard, but it's certainly innovative.

What a great idea. I agree with jlwilliams about the trigger guard. Not having one is just looking for trouble. And at $425.00, they can afford to weld on an aluminum sheet metal guard.

I'd hate to admit I paid $425 for that...

If you're that much in need of a 1# rifle, at least try it before you buy it..I really wonder how it shoots.

Neat idea, I'd be curious to know how durable it would be in the no kidding pack. At 1# I'm afraid it'd be fragile relatively.

There's still the m6, AR-7, Marlin 39, 70p and Taurus 62 for take down pack rimfires, but the AR-7 is the only one close in weight to 1#.

I would have to convince myself that a one pound rifle would be better than a pistol. Would not match it in weight maybe but smaller size during the 99.992% of the time you pack it around would be a big factor to me.

seemed to work quite well in the video..if extreme lightweight for backpacking is important..it may just work.

Looks like I was wrong about it being a semi auto, it's a single shot.

Definitely a specific niche item. I ran across it online as I'm looking at putting some sort of a pack rifle together. Not sure what exactly I'll do, so I'm looking at all sorts of things for ideas. The price on this one is a bit more than I'd throw just to try it out, and honestly 16oz is lighter than I really need. It is however the lightest rifle I've seen. That makes it worth posting here. Someone here may need this information and be willing to pay that much for it. Don't know. Seems that people who like it like it, but those who don't really don't. Nothing wrong with that.

Anybody remember the AR-22? Semi-auto and the barrel unscrewed and stored in the buttstock. And didn't Browning make a takedown 22? Both weighed more than a pound though.

Find a good used Stevens Crackshot. Mine doesn't look like much, but when I clamped a scope on it to see what it could do, I shot a 5/16" group at 50 yd. with Winchester Super Speed solids and a bunch of under 1/2" groups. I've since put a Williams barrel-mounted peep on it with a target front sight that I had around. I don't know what it weighs, but it sure isn't much.

Or if you're okay with a singleshot, try a crickett with a synthetic stock. I've got an old chipmunk with a peep sight and scope w/mount. One big flathead and its in two pieces no longer than 18" each.

you might look at the marlin pappoose its about 3.5lb (i think) and is stainless steel i have the older blued model with a wood stock and it weighs about 4lb its pretty accurate to

I've always liked the Stevens singles. Nice little gun.

I have a takedown 22 project that I have been trying to get to the front of the project list. I picked up an old Mossberg 22 bolt action repeater, youth sized. My plan is to convert it to a takedown with a draw screw at the front of the forearm. Should be a reasonable project and be neat when it's all done. If/when it gets to the front of the bench I'll take pictures as I go. Anyway, the two halves will both be small and the gun doesn't weigh doodly squat. Should be easy enough to have when and wherever I may want a 22 rifle.

I guess if that's such a big concern, that one's pack/survival gun looks pretty then I'm also guessing that "camping" involves electricty, hot showers, and a cappacino machine.

There you have it. A great idea for a product. Make a solar powered cappacino machine that weighs a pound. Sell it to the yuppy 'hikers' (they don't need a rifle, they need cappacino) and use the proceeds to pay for a good hunting/fishing trip.

Nice idea, but I'd still go with a quality 22 hand gun.

I would never have one without a trigger guard, just doesn't tickle my fancy.

Yea, but it's a lot easier for most people to purchase a rifle than it is a handgun. For portability and compactness, I haven't seen anything like it.

They will sell. My son is a backpacker and spent $30 for a titanium cup to save weight. Of course I wouldn't do that, but the $500 fly rod is a necessity...

How about 1 of those suriver rifles they come in black and silver i think there maid by henry, i had a silver 1 the barrel and clip and reciver fit in the but of the gun and it also floated the are semi auto,i bet it didnt weight no more than a pound and a half, would work perfect for a back pack

I had one of those. Loved it until I took it shooting on a cold day. Wouldn't feed two rounds in a row. They have a reputation as jam-o-matics. If they offered the same set up with a bolt action they would have a winner.

I don't think he's talking about a singleshot - i think jlwilliams was talking about the ar-7/henry survival rifle that backstrap was referencing. They are portable, float, and pack nice, but they are finicky in adverse conditions.

I think I can get close to the weight with a 10/22 and a large drill bit and drill holes in a standard stock for a whole lot less $.
OK it will be aboput 2.5 Pounds.
