1st time out with BC carbine

 It finaly quit raining long enough for me to get the new BC out. first thing I noticed right out of the box was that I couldnt focus on the factory sights well. so I made a replacement blade.





   It shot great! I only had some cowboy loads on hand, so I tried them first. the first three out of a cold barrel were touching at 50 yds! now Im really happy. after the barrel warmed they spread out horizantaly. I havent tryed any tuning yet. after cooling for about 15 min the next three were touching again. DR

 it was from a hacksaw blade. it was the closest to the right thickness I had. DR

Very ingenious sight solution. I'm still waiting for the snow to end so I can get mine to the range. Your range results with the cowboy loads sound great, what loads are you hoping to use in it? I have some 250gr. RNFP cast bullets on order for my .45 Colt revolver and will try those in this carbine also, but I'm hoping to use a bullet with a bit more weight and metplat area in the BC carbine for hunting. Nice looking wood grain!

  With this gun Im hopeing to fill a couple of goals. I want a gun for side matches in CAS, and plinking. with these cowboy loads its plenty accurite for that. but I also want a gun that can shoot heavy bullits for hog hunting. Im wanting to develop a load for 300 to 350gr lead bullits. thats whats next for it. DR

I always had thought CAS matches used lever action rifles, not single shots. Of course that's just an assumption on my part as I've never been to a CAS match. Either way it sounds like it's on the money with the cowboy loads. Are there limitations placed on those loads for CAS use?

Kurt has a 360gr load, here's the thread he replied to that has several other loads.

Here's my 75yrd deer Thumper load 21gr Lilgun under a 360gr Lazer Cast 1.7 OAL right at 1500fps and very close to max pressure be careful. Kurt

 Don , they have a side match called King of the Plains, or Plainsman. its shot with a single shot rifle, shotgun and a pr of cap & ball revolvers. all with black powder only. I shot this once using the hornet handi but it didnt meet the min caliber of 32.

Tim, kurts recipe does sound like a thumper! I have a friend that casts 325gr semi pointed. that Im going to try first. Ive tried them in my marlin but they werent real accurite. Im going to try them with a slower powder to see if that helps. DR
