How are they on recoil?

I have asked this question as well.  From what people have told me, it does not do much for recoil but does help with barrel jump.  It was suggested by some, including my gunsmith, that lengthening the forcing cone would have more of the desired effect and is cheaper while not affecting accuracy.

one poster was cutting his off. Other posts say the plastic from sabots fouls the ports and full bore slugs are being shaved and leading the ports. They all say they are louder than non ported.

I have one of the Hastings QDM (slotted ports on bottom and angled sides of barrel). It absolutely reduces the amount of recoil as well as
the barrel lift. Folks have said its not any louder than a normal slug gun, which is definitely not the case with ported rifle barrels.

Give these people a call. I can not say about the slug gun porting but I will say I love the job they did on my 300 winney mag. It is no noiser than it was with out porting. You do not get the back blast inthe face a brake gives you and it stoped muzzle jump a bunch. Recoil is about the same as My 243.

Give them a call and ask about doing a slug gun.
