Finally Got to shoot my new G2
« on: February 27, 2010, 09:14:03 AM »
Snow finally melted enough so i could get to my range today.I recently bought a 7-30 Waters in a G2 and i just ran 22 rounds through it and although hunting season is out the smell of gun powder is way over due.I had a bud find me some(5 boxes for $15 a box)old Federal factory rounds recently, they shot pretty good.Granted I was only shooting @ 30yds,i was getting 1/2 groups and i really enjoyed shooting. What is another good factory brand that would be great for deer? These were cheap enough to shoot but i want to get something devastaing for deer.
I going to try my .35 Rem next.got some Hornadys but they are a bit more expensive to just blow.I quess reloading is some where in my future.Just wanted to share my day with ya'll.Ahhhh the smell of gunpowder in the afternoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Man i love these TC's....

As far as I know the Federal round is the only factory round available for the 7-30 Waters and it is an excellent deer round.

I agree.  As far as I know, Federal is the only factory making them anymore.  The 7x30 Waters has become a handloader's cartridge - a VERY good one - but don't exptect to find much in boxed ammo.  If you really want to enjoy the 7x30, you'll need to handload for it.  It's an  excellent cartridge!

You're right,That is a good price.A small country gun shop owner passed away and his wife is getting rid of all his stuff.i believe my buddy told me he had 4 more boxes left and I am hoping to get my hands on those as well.If I remember correctly there were even some frames and a few barrells left. Can't have too much ammo....
