Even tho I'm in the deep south there aren't many signs of spring showing up around here yet.

I did see a ground hog hole on a bank along the roadside that appeared to be cleaned out. Down at my pond the sumac is beginning to leaf out and the bass and bream are in the shallows on warm sunny days. Daffodils are poking thru and some are getting ready to bloom. That's really about it for here for now and that's way behind normal schedule but it is still quite cold for us here. Temps are running a good 10-15 degrees below normal here.

One bunch of Jonquils bloomed in my yard but a freeze got them. The buds on some trees and the baby's breath are turning red and swelling getting ready to put out leaves. eddie

The only signs I've noticed is at least some days above freezing. :(
Been a humdinger of a winter in Oklahoma this year. >:(
We are currently looking at seasonable temperatures on the 7 day forecast finally. ::) ;) highs in the 50's lows in the 30's.
Let's hope it's starting. Two weeks until spring break here.

We've been having spring-like weather for quite a while now, but I haven't really paid much attention to what is growing, except for the grass, which needs mowing again.  I did see some flowering plum trees that are all blossomed out, yesterday.  I saw a flock of geese flying north, yesterday; the robbins are back and all over the place, but no humming birds yet.  When the ospreys return, I guess it will be official.

We're supposed to have temperatures in the sixties today and lots of sunshine.  I guess I might fire up the Honda and take a ride and see what is growing.

Well, the sun has moved north to where it is every year.  ;D Other than that a robin showed up last week which is a signal. They usually hang around for about three weeks and then you don't see any until the next year. No other signs like trees budding yet though.

Here on the normally frozen U.P. of Michigan it seems as if Spring has been breaking out all Winter.  The drive was snowblown only 3 times.  We've consistently lost more snow than we got.  The deer never yarded up.  Right now there's a little snow on the ground with bare spots between.  It was 39 over the weekend and it'll be 40ish next weekend.  I expect the bear and woodchuck to be out and about very soon if they're not out already.  It has been the best winter I've seen here in 20 years.  The whole rest of the country, including lower Michigan, has caught it while we escaped time after time.  I still have a lot of apples hanging on a couple of trees in the front yard, and a flock of Waxwings and a couple of red squirrels were working them over this past weekend.

Ground hog set up next door in the empty lot. He suns himself on his dirt patio. Spring is getting closer. Still think it will be a cool spring/summer. Much colder winter next year.

Robins are late (at least here in the midwest) this year as I still have not seen or heard even one. Cant really go by the Canada Goose anymore as a lot are now resident here. I have been trimming trees and bushes like a mad man so as to get it done before bud's or blooms start to appear.

Temp warmed up to the mid 30s and it started raining.

Told the wife not to believe it, false alarm.  We've still got another month before break-up.  We'll get more snow and remember this time last year it was still 50 below.

The stray house cats in the neighborhood are roaming the neighborhood more lookin for partners. I've caught 4 in 5 days. Usually go for weeks without a bite. Those four won't be climbin on my cars anymore, and leavin their mess in my yard. Is that the same thing as other signs of spring?  ;D

Here in Georgia we are beginning to see a few buds on the trees (few). Also starting to see people getting their garden space ready for planting. Everyone is waiting later this year to plant in fear of a late freeze. Been hearing plenty of talk about turkey hunting and fishing lately.

i like dee's signs the most so far.   however i did shave this morning and i seared a ribeye on the grill along with some fresh portabellas and aspargus.  i know we will get dumped on a few more times before it is all over, but the sun is getting some power and the snow is taking damage. oh, i saw a robin over 2 weeks ago.

We've had robins and song birds for a couple of weeks, but they have not taken their life jackets off. It rains about every other day, and the conditions outside have been miserable most all winter. I went huntin twice all winter for a couple of hours, and it was miserably muddy both times. Unprecedented rainfall this year.

My peach trees have been blooming for about a week now.  Some of my other trees have buds on them and the desert is a carpet of green.  Saw a big old desert tortoise out yesterday chowing down on the green stuff.  Got my garden plowed and the rows set so I'm ready to plant.  Just a little leery about planting any plants yet because of maybe one more freeze.  The house covey of quail are beginning to pair off and the doves are chasing each other and acting like idiots.  When the snowbirds start heading back north then we will know that summer is near.

We lived up to the song about spring time in Alaska. Saturday it was -10 and blowing up to 28 mph plenty cold. Its about 15 now. Actually hope it stays cold for another month and that we get some snow. I need to haul more wood and conditions have been poor. Tore up my snogo suspension Friday on the exposed tundra and hard ice.  I need to get new hyfax on my slides. But do like having daylight until 7 pm. Need to catch some smelt thru the ice too.

When I read Dee's post about the cats I realised I haven't seen any dead skunks on the roads yet. That's a sure sign of spring around here.
