SPRING BEAVER
« on: March 02, 2010, 05:27:57 AM »
Even though we still have a lot of winter left in the north country, the past few days have been very nice. The warmer weather always turns my thoughts to--spring beaver.
How many of you gents are planning on a spring beaver line?

Never done the spring beaver thing except to take out a few doing damage. I will be heading out to chase Walleye's on the river today though. As the holes in the ice get big enough for my little boat I'll be out more often. I'll take some pic's to post if the fish cooperate.

We have had some really warm weather here in Northern Maine.............I'm hitting it hard, more so because i have a friend who wants to learn how to trap beaver.  It's always nice to have a person with you that has the drive to pick up anything they can, to do the best job they can.  The ice is thick in some spots, but the streams are starting to open and the river edges are open as well.  Spring rats are right around the corner. If it lets out soon the pelts should look great.  I've picked up a few rats and the glads are not full or even close to looking as they do on the spring rats.  Good luck to all and stay safe......Pete

I'm planning on setting as soon as the creeks open. Will probably throw a few 330's and some mound master in the truck, as I'm planning to go to Mountain for the dist. 4 meeting. Maybe I'll find a creek open.

I love spring beaver trapping.  Like rdfx I'm getting the #330's and footholds in order.  Making a list and checking it twice!

In fact, I got a good price on another 14 #330's that should be arriving next week.
