NWTF Banquet Ideas
« on: March 03, 2010, 12:03:37 PM »
Hi Folks,
I'm on the board of directors for the local chapter of the NWTF. We just had a very successful banquet and are planning for next years. Heres where you come in. I'm looking for ideas that you have seen at your local banquets. Our chapter is VERY kid and Women oriented, and we are looking for ideas that help get these two groups involved. This spring we are sponsoring a 3 day youth turkey camp ,at no expense to the kids or families, and this year we are in the initial planning stages to try and take 1 or 2 wheel chair bound Veterans turkey hunting, this will probably happen in 2011,thats our plan of course. But what have you seen at your local banquets that would be fun and exciting( prizes ,games, etc) that would help us acceived these goals . Thanks for all your help ,and ideas--1Longbow

The local DU banquet features a contest where there is a boat full of outdoors stuff and the winner gets 60 seconds to take anything he wants from the boat to the stage.  If it hits and stays on the stage he gets it.  Second place gets 45 seconds.  Third 30.  It's fun to watch and the crowd really gets into it.  You would need a large outdoor store to donate the stuff to put in the boat.

Warning:  One year most of the stuff in the boat was fishing related.  Guy #1 had been at the open bar a bit too long and he crashed with an armful of lures.  He had several trebles buried past the barb.  Not as family friendly.

Friend of mine is on local one here. they sponsor a women's hunting seminar, lead by all women, luncheon, etc. A great way for women to meet and share their love for the outdoors.

Ours always has a big raffle, usually shotgun or muzzleloader is the draw. Turkey calling contest, i think would be cool, without calls.
