Went out again today. Am I the only one fishing?

On the water at first light. Cut across Lake Conroe to a place I know the shad stack up against bulkheads. Threw the cast net about 10 times and came up with about 200 2" - 3" shad. The wife almost immediately catches a 3 lb. Gaspergoo on a shad. Never saw one before.

Then she loses one of the same fish at the boat that was about 4 lbs.
I put on a 3" shad and catch a 3.12 lb. Hybrid Striper. Nice fish. Then it slows down. She catches a couple of catfish on shad while I'm casting for bass.
End of day, we bring home a few catfish, crappie, a hybrid striped bass, and a gaspergoo. I caught only one bass less than two pounds on a rapala. I did catch a 3lb. and a 4 lb. catfish on a rapala!!

They hit it hard!. I thought I had a good bass but oh well.

No other bass hits.

Savage, I know you are a bass man and I really am too. I just can't catch them on Lake Conroe.

Anyone ever seen a Gaspergoo before? It looks like a freashwater drum. I guess you can eat them. I filleted it.

Zulu, I went out for a little bit Saturday morning

a cold front came through and things were slooow.

Not very much fishing going on here, mainly because we've had insane winds the last week - I just don't nomally go out much when it's blowing 20+ MPH, just too much work to keep the boat on track.

Looks like you got some good eating.

What family is that one fish from?

Cat fish look good! And on a Rapala nice!! Hey you were catchin and some days that'll do. Speaking of being a bass hunter - have you seen any of Brett Richardson's stuff. He writes for in-fisherman some and has a website - giant fish . com. Big on pictures not much info - I ran across and downloaded one article that somewhat explains his outlook. Regards, Bill

  Practice, concentration, mental energy,physical energy and confidence. Get these thing working
   and your bound to get better.
   I would ask this. Are you a bass fishermen or a mixed bag guy? The reason for that is if you concentrate on bass only or at least most of the time, you learning curve will go up. Trail and error.
   Best teacher there is. The more you learn, the better you get. Bass fishing can be rewarding as well as humbling. Think of it this way, if there is no challenge, there is no reward!

   In my case I only target ....bass. I`m rigged that way and my gear is as well. I have no interest in anything else. Living in central Fl makes that choice very easy. I`ve had great days and some not so great but no matter , it`s the challenge that keeps me going. Plus..............the TOADS

On another matter. You know I kid you guys ( you,bt,oldshooter ) in a way I hope you get a laugh or 2 and none of it is ment to be nasty in any way. Just wanted set the record straight.

I do mostly concentrate on bass. My wife likes to bring home some fish every now and then and I have to keep her happy. We all know how that goes. I told her yesterday that I would rather catch one bass than 10 catfish.

She told me to shutup and watch my cork.

Look who we are dealing with. He says he is a fisherman but as of the first of April he hasn't been fishing yet.

I post all my bass pictures even if they are 1 1/2 lb.

Maybe he is afraid to tell us all his bass aren't 7 lbs. or more.

Just maybe, all his bass aren't "toads".

don't kow if you guys are aware that I was a River pilot on the Mississippi River in another life, My working one! I have sent that picture to everyone of my old associates and told them that retirement is grand and they should keep a look out for me and my yacht on the river! I cant post here what they send back!

I checked out Tackleunderground.com. The paint jobs on those hardbaits are so nice I wouldn't know whether to cast them or hang them on the wall.

Some of those guys on TU are really creative. Especially the color schemes. If you do any repair (rods,reels, lures, etc,) on your stuff that`s a good place to pick up a pointer or two.
I`ve been doing my own repairs for years. Rods,reels, what ever. One thing about doing your own is you get really fast service.

I do repairs for others as well, $$$.

Went out again today.
Only catfishing.
Shad were thick along the bulkheads. Threw the cast net and got about 200. Fished under corks (sorry Savage).
Wife caught 8 catfish 2 - 4 lbs.
I caught 3

What's the deal with that? Brought home 30 lbs. of fish.

Hey try noodling some time. tie lines to floaty noodles(the pool kind) and bait em with shad and throw em out. when they start swimming away , you just chase em down and pick em up!
