Zulu,   I'm planning on going out just before night fall tonight for a couple hours - watching the K derby right now - it's rained off and on all day today.  My tournament friend caught 31 the other day on a suspending crankbait.  I talk with him every chance I get - he knows his stuff. Catch you later Gang.  Regards,  BT

bt, you said," he knows his stuff."  Apparently none of that "stuff" has rubbed off on you.   Keep watching the "cork" my friend!   ;D

Hey thats pretty cool! I've been gone a few days but I really like the "new model" ! Be neat if ya could get the toons on top of the camper when you get to the dock! To hit the highway!  ;)

Guys I saw a bass in a creek pond in Junction, TX this weekend that was at least 25 inches long and weighed probably 10lbs and all I had was a rifle and some Binoculars.

One other thing comes to mind. You could have "fished all day",blab, blab, blab.  I`d say that is a fair statement. I don`t know of a single bass  that would jump on a stink-bait or a chicken neck. You being a cat -fisherman and all.  Stick with what you do best and you won`t be so dis-appointed!    :D :D :D :D

You know its been years but I really did have a bass jump in my boat on two occasions.  One was 3 lbs. and just jumped in when I was fishing in a jon boat.  The other jumped into the same boat when I was cruising the lake with my 5 HP motor and hit the guy with me in the back.  It was a one pounder.

Come to think of it, neither do I. but hey think of the possibilities! someone might come out with a rattle chicken neck!, or a stink frog! maybe even a stink crank! and then there's the "lucky 13 chicken neck"!!  ;D  :D

You need to pop another valium and put your big sombrero back on.  I don`t know what you did on your last 'hunting" trip (seeing 10 lb bass and all)  but this fixation on "stink baits" has got to stop.
With all that talk, your going to have Zulu and bt, tearing up the fishing section at the local Big Lots Super Store, in search of those said baits.  They think there for bass but in reality there for cat-fish Shame on you!    :D :D :D :D :D

Ya, I think your on to something.  Plus it`s a good way to supplement the retirement check you get for running the "Good Ship Lolly-Pop" for count-less years on the Mississippi river. Keep us posted.  ;D

Actually, I haven't convinced myself I really want one yet.  I have a small fortune invested in very nice spinning gear that I enjoy using.  I cast well with it too.  If I can do my job and get a fish on, it does its job and helps me land it.
I would like to hold one and try it before I change anything I'm doing now.  But I don't know anyone that has one I could borrow.

Zulu:

Here`s the deal. On week-ends I go around my area to the local yard sales. Mainly I go for a look-see
with certain items on my list. Fishing stuff. Lots of salt water gear but fresh water stuff doesn`t come easy.
As you don`t seem to want to get off the dime and buy a baitcaster. If I find a decent one ( no junk) for a couple of bucks, I`ll get it and send it to you. Free of charge. you won`t owe me a cent!

Nothing better than helping someone who is one step away from..................food stamps.  :D

All you`ll need to do is buy/steal or put a posted note up at the trailer park office about a rod. Surley somebody will trade you one for a bottle of Boones Farm (Select) wine.

Let me know what you think.

Nothing like having friends that look after you. ;D  I really do just fine with a spinning reel.  I will look at garage sales myself and consider it if I see one.  I can always sell a pint of blood. ;)
Mother's Day is Sunday.
I have Mom , Dad, and brothers and sisters coming over for dinner.  12 people.  Well we decided to do catfish.
So, we went out today.  Threw the cast net at first light against the bulkheads.  Hundreds of shad.  Fished under a cork.  Caught 14 catfish and one 4 pound striper.  Bought home 36 pounds of fish that made 11 pounds 4 oz. of fillets.
The striper was awesome.  Fights harder than any black bass.
Even Savage can't say anything bad about today because it was for MOM! ::)
I did talk to a guy at the boat ramp that said he lost a "pig".  He said the bass would have gone at least 10 lbs. :o
