This forum needs a moderator

Actually due to the volume of traffic here it probably needs more than one moderator. There is no way I can take the time to read all the posts here and honestly the majority of the topics hold zero interest for me so I have no personal inclination to read them.

But it has been called to my attention recently that things are getting out of hand here as far as personal attacks and name calling and such. Folks you know the rules on that at this site and if you don't then perhaps you need to read up on the rules around here.

I was thinking this forum used to have a moderator or two but danged if I recall who or when they left or why.

So what I need is at least one regular reader here and preferably more than one to co-moderate the forum. If you are currently a "part of the problem" I'm discussing don't waste my time volunteering. Having the fox watch the hen house has never been a good plan.

OK we have three volunteers chosen and we'll go with that for now and see how long they can take it before waving the white flag and surrendering.

Prolly a wise decision. We'll see how long the chosen volunteers last before surrendering. Heck the more I think about it that might be why we had no moderators here.

Well I personally did not see a problem with the way it was.. We are all adults and those who cant act like it are removed. Yeah it gets heated now and then but hey its the internet... we are not face to face so many folks grow larger than normal balls and mouth off more than they would in person. I had been handling the moderating as it was needed but GB wants Mods so we got them... for now...

So long as you follow the rules you should have no problems. They are here to make sure the name calling and personal attacks are detected and stopped sooner. Neither me nor Matt read any high percentage of the posts here. Quite honestly darn few of them interest me so I seldom become aware of problems that have arisen until they are kinda far along and someone lets me know about it.

Censorship isn't what moderators are for, well hardly anywhere tho on a couple of folks certain folks who run businesses have gotten themselves on a censored list so in that case it is but only in regard to posts trying to bring those two into the discussion.

I'm with you Matt! looked to me like, for the most part things were going purdy smooooooooth, but like you said.......GB is the man and he will make the final decision, and the numbers on this forum indicate he must be doing something right

that's what you get for thinking of both sides before choosing one!  just evaluating the argument makes you liberal on here    even worse if you suggest that two sides might actually feed the same social dynamic or phenomena, and that's liberalism to the extreme.

 I wish the new moderators well. This is one of the mildest-mannered open forums I've ever visited. Some are volatile.

GB has some good moderators here and I have never seen anyone become a CZAR.
The ones he picked will do good.

My youngest is a full ten years older than you so yup mostly just a kid. OK so I resemble that geezer remark. You'd be amazed at the effort it took to get to that status.

Ha-Ha.  It does take some effort to reach the status of geezer. My oldest is 33 and my youngest is 28..  I'm afraid I'm getting close to geezer status. I just don't know what age that starts at.
