First DEFINE an assault weapon.
They're so busy defining one that actually getting around to banning them won't happen.

The way I see it is if they're going to ban assault weapons, they're going to ban all guns in general.  It won't just be AK's and AR's, it'll be the whole enchilada.  There's just too many grey areas to define "assault weapon".

Lets cut the BS , The english tried to take our fore fathers weapons back in the 1770's . Thats a long time ago , question is how many are willing to keep with tradition ? An old gunsmith i knew once said when the shooting starts we will then see if its more that want to keep um or take um.
A friend of mine is a cop on a swat team.
He said as well as others that if or when there is a confiscation of fire arms they will not serve the warrants.

Obama and the Democraps have their hands full right now with the bad economy and health care.  Even with that, they are proving incompetent to the max.  Obama might give up on the main issues and attack the guns when he fully accepts that he is a one term president, but I doubt there will be much activity as the Democraps are going to loose big time this Fall.  The population is becoming more and more pro-gun, that is why Obama keeps saying he is pro-gun, but his senate record is different.

There is only a matter of time before the country is hit big by terrorists, people learned that the government cannot protect them on Sep. 11/2001.  I would not sweat it as much as we did when Clinton was in the White house, it was another time, another supreme court composition, and another risk level for our guns.  Clinton was far more competent as a politician than rooky Obama.

Damn Mikey! I like the way you think!
And I agree. I am not a roll over and take it kind
of man. There are still German Automatic weapons hidden
all over France from WWII. If those lttle French fellas have the
stones to keep them hidden, why not us! I can assure you that
if the Obama storm troopers or U.N. Blue Hats start any confiscation efforts
in any of the surrounding counties where I live, There will be a lot of folks
around here in possession of their equipment really quickly. They are so fed up with
Government right now that a small spark is going to cause an inferno.
I sincerely believe it would start another Civil War.

they  don't care if  you bury  them

saves them the trouble  of taking them

either  way  .....you loose....they win
Once they pass, then dig them up and strike back! or hit them where they live! Better yet, take a 20 dollar bill and go to wally world and the auto-parts store and come away with the materials to make enough poison gas to wipe out several hundred at once and save the ammo. Make it so costly taking folks guns as to make it not worth it! Take their stuff and turn it on them! But, sadly there will not be enough brave men to carry this out when the time comes. The sheep and lemmings will fall right into line like good little citizens and drop their guns into the melting pots. I Won't,I value my freedom way too much  to give up my only means of keeping it

Interesting point was brought out in the (dont ask dont tell) Military policy.
When asked how they would repeal the policy, the current admin. said you would remove the policy and a "law" would take care of the rest.
I quess what they were saying are. Make a draconian law so bad no one would bitch openly or violate it. Simple solution, it has worked through out History.
They love the power of laws. They make them, they violate them, for their gain. Look at what is going on now.
A simple draconian law concerning guns would remove almost all overnight.
A man does not want to watch the sun set through vertical bars. More so when he has a family.
If every man in this country that thought it was to late or it dont matter, would work to change it.  What a power that would be.

I suggest at least buying a lower receiver now, and when you get the money, buy your upper.  If they do outlaw, it will probably be grandfathered in.  That is how they have been doing it.  Little by little.  You can get a complete lower receiver for less than $300.

I get a chuckle out of all the tough guy talk, like "we won't stand for it, we'll fight back, yada yada". No "we" won't. It will be incremental, affecting only a small segment at a time. We'll loose our guns little by little. First, the Clinton gun ban will be reinstated and perhaps expanded a bit. There was no revolution when Clinton did it before. Then they will expand that every few years to include more and more firearms. Great Briton and Australia used to have very liberal  laws (in the dictionary sense) but bit by bit the restrictions grew, the noose tightened. It's like boiling a frog. I remember when one could order a gun from the Sears catalog and the postman would deliver it to the door. I remember when every country store and gas station had a rack of guns for sale. Like G. Gordon Liddy said, "I remember when this used to be a free country". We little frogs are already half boiled and never even noticed it happening.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

Shootall you are right.  But I will argue that "they" have bigger fish to fry. Guns will be an issue, let them get their money making out of the way first. They have to pay off those that put them in. That is what obamacare, crap and trade, and other socialist programs are for.
If you will notice polosi and ried are selling out the Dems and dont care. It is just part of trying to get what they want.
I would believe guns are on the list.

No law can stay on the books for any length of time when there is a massive noncompliance -- Proibition ring a bell? Take a look at Canada--they are repelling their registration of long guns--non compliance and cost over runs--plus it didn't do a thing.

On another note--take my guns? Heck I'm a machinist--everything you need to make a firearm is in a automobile--crude perhaps--depending on your skills and equipment at the time-also my brother is a Phd chemist--ammo is no problem--at least for me---who knows--I may go into business. It isn't really cost effective at the moment--but in the future--??

In the Phillipeans and in Afganistan--the locals make some pretty good guns using files and drills and hack saws--also remember the liberty pistols we dropped into France--crude but they worked. Just shoot a government person who has a gun and take theirs.

A person is unarmed when they want to be unarmed.

45-70, good point . But illegal drugs still come into this country and illegal drugs are still produced here . And if guns are banned they will be made here and come here by the same routes the drugs do . Next time you see one of those promotion pictures showing the packages of drugs stacked up that LE captured  just think how many guns would fill the same space . I hope these times never come as it will be a ruthless time in our history.

Not to get off subject very far, but 1911, our votes do matter.  Yes, it is the vote of the Electoral College that is the official determination of the President.  Popular vote determines which slate of Electors get to vote for the President.  The E C is important in maintaining the ability of small population states to be a factor in an election. Without the E C does anyone think a candidate would campaign in Idaho or Wyoming ?  All the campaigning would be done in Calif, Pa, Mich, Fl and Ohio and other more populous states.  Now, back to the main subject.  Thank you   RP

MMM. Not really.
The early primarys in states like Iowa are why people campagn there and get a sense of who is the front runner.
Other than that there is a formula That shows you can win just a few key states like NY, Ohio, CA, Mass, Conn and Fla and loose the others and still be ellected President.  As long as you win 51% in those states and could be a few as 10, you could loose by 100% in the rest of the country.
Clinton never recieved more than 46% of the vote and ecame president because of Ross Perriot and the EC.

HMMM! Are the people that vote in the electoral college bound to vote by their states voting outcome? Say the electoral college voters were socialist idealogs would the president be a legally president if it was done this way?
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

There are delagates that vote, if one party wins they send their delagates to vote in the college.  there is one vote per member of the house along with two for the Senate.  now it is mearly a formality.
I do believe there was one person in history that voted the other way for Jackson or against Jackson and that is when the Deltagates started to cast votes.

Well the health care bill is passed and signed away.  Then were did this bill on reducing nukes come from?  Heck its signed with no word about it at all?

This tells me our guns and ammo will be shuffled in next and we will be blind sided.  I'm thinking, my gut feeling,  is the 500% ammo tax.  Yup them we can own them and can't afford to shoot them thats there point right?    I have a very bad gut feeling on this.

We are a goverment by the people and for the people and we elect these people to repusent us "the people" so why are so many elected people against us "the people who put them in office?   Why are they putting there personal views and thoughts infront of our views and thought?   Something is wrong................ ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

We need to vote these people out of office for ever and let them get real jobs.  I think washington has too many people warming seats instead of helping this country.  I think some in washington should be laid off too so they can see what some of us go thru too.  There are way too many old people in washington too they need to retire too. Lets blind side them before they blind side us.

Never happen. Around half of the "black guns" out there are owned by Democrats, and the gun control groups are all run by Republicans. What you hear about this nonsense is all scare tactics to get money from people.
Save up and buy your AR's and don't worry about us evil liberals - we shoot them, too.

I keep hearing people talk about the ammo, as just that folks are hoarding.  I have a local dealer that gets a standard order for reloaders every year for many years.  He orders months ahead of time.  The last two years, he has rec'd about one month's worth of stuff.  If the dealers can't get it to sell, we can't buy it.  So who is hoarding?

They won't have to take guns if they can take ammo.  I can make a gun, but it would be difficult to make brass and primers......

Don't add to the myth!

First of all, 99% of the milsurps out there are NOT assault weapons. By definition, an assault weapon is capable of select fire, which means it can go fully automatic. The ones the average Joe Blow can buy are limited to semiautomatic.

Big difference. So the next time I watch Cops and the guy is holding up an SKS and calling it an assault rifle, I feel justified in throwing a brick through my TV. And that's too expensive!
