I just given a Colt Single Action Buntline Scout .22 LR. I know nothing about this gun and need help. I want to know how you field strip,load and unload this firearm. Please help with any information you may have.

I started handgun shooting with one of these in 1959. The only routine disassembly is removal of the cylinder for cleaning. Put on half cock-Depress the base pin latch (front of frame side to side) and pull out the base pin. Cylinder comes out through the gate.

You can unscrew the grip frame and take it off. About the only reason to do this would be to replace the trigger/ bolt spring in the frame just forward of the trigger. These things sometimes break. I only saw one broken one and my buntline never had the problem. I was paranoid about the possibility and put a fresh one in every now and then.

All I would add is to open the loading gate.

BTW, mine has a base pin screw, not a latch.

right. Screw. Just take it out and remove the base pin.
