Colony Traps
« on: March 06, 2010, 03:38:03 PM »
If all goes well, we'll be allowed to use colony traps in Wisconsin. To all of you that already use them, can you give us some insight on using them. Did you build your own? Any tricks to lessen the learning curve?
Thanks.
Shawn

Shawn, a very useful tool.Great for rats and mink.Best in rat runs or in front of dens, but I have also used them in narrow spots and root systems.
Best to always keep them totally submerged --keeps rats from fighting.
Doors should be reincorced as bigger mink will blow the doors right out of them.

I've used them in sewer plant RELEASE (legal in WI) ponds and catching four rats at a pop is a real wild feeling.
