44 Mag rifle for my daughter.....what to do?

Story goes, I purchase a barrel from another member here, bought a new shotgun for the frame, sold the barrel and the stock to help offset the costs, purchased a pink wooden stock last year (again from another memeber here) in anticipation of assembling this gun.  Finally, today the weather broke and I could make it to the range with the recentley assembled gun in tow.  I tentatively set up and fired at a 50 yard target.  4" high just above the bull.  Shot again.  This one touched the first shot!  Adjusted the iron sights and fired another 6 rounds.  Grouped approx 2" just high and left of bull! All shots were off-hand in pretty quick sucession.

Now my dilema...do I keep the gun for myself ar actually give it to my daughter!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Kid = another gun.  ;) My son is fortunate and appreciative enough to get a pile of classic stuff his "Old-Man" started acquiring 40 + years ago and I couldn't be happier..............  ;D

I think you'd look real cute with the pink stock ::) ::) ::) :o :o  Buy another one,....ream it to .445....or a .357 reamed to Maximum....they're both real versatile.....can't have too many handis.

 Get her broke in to it and shooting proper, that way when your old an feeble she might just bring ya some tender venison back straps from time ta time. ::)
An if she knows how too shoot good, she stands a better chance of landing a proper young man too be called your son-in-law.
 Start lookin for an sb2 frame and join the crowd, these thing's are FUN, ain't they? ;D

A walnut Buffalo Classic stock set would replace that pink stock set nicely.

+1 for another one for your self. Also buy one of the camo gun socks to cvover the pink. That way YOU can use it hunting ;)

I would LOVE to buy each child a gun but when you have four (4) daughters like I do, the wife has other things she thinks they need to have.  You know like American Girl Dolls, makeup, clothes, etc..... I do my best though and sneek one in now and again.

I did get a couple of funny looks at the range because of the pink stock but I didn't realize it at the time.  My whole house is pink at this point so a stock that color doesn't even phase me :o!!!!!!!

My two oldest daughters have had range time with me already and actually enjoy shooting.  My third daughter gets to go this year and she is excited.  I have a pink-stocked .22 that I use for teaching basic safety.  Regreatably it's not a NEF but it works.

My oldest daughter has expressed interest in deer hunting this fall so that's why the gun is coming together now.

I'll keep you posted, with pics of course, as we progress down this adventure. :) :)

If you are taking the kid hunting 1st time, you are probably going to cover her shot. I know that it goes against all this board stands for, but you don't need a 2nd .44, if you have some other backup deer gun. Once one of you fills their tag, they can't carry a centerfire in the woods during rifle deer season anyway (in my state). So I would fill her tag, then if she likes it, she could be with you while you use the .44.
