slug gun and muzzleloader scopes??

Was wondering what most guys here use for scopes for these guns?? Im looking to scope both guns as I've always used iron sights and was wondering if Im better off with low power scope like nikons 1.65x5 or step up to 3x9.. I want the low power for the larger FOV but am concerned 5x will be less than desired at ranges over 100 yrds.. Any suggestions??

Both choices are good.  Just buy quality so you won't have to buy twice   Lots of deals on good used scopes if you look

I have used the 1-3x20mm Weavers at first, but have since gone to the 1-4 and 1.5-5x20mm Leupolds. A little more magnification was a help for my old eyes and my family like the Leupolds also. You do get what you pay for in optics to a certain extent.

Nikon makes a 2-7x30mm shotgun scope that is nice
Leupold makes a 2-7x30mm shotgun/muzzleloader scope

I am going to buy the leupold when my Encore barrel comes in--It has great eye relief

IMO the Nikon Prostaff 2-7X32 can't be beat.

Yep Nikon 2-7x32 or a Leupold 2-7x32 are good choices and quality scopes.

thanks guys.. I was wanting to buy the nikon prosatff 2x7 but have been getting very tempted with both the nikon slughunter and the omega with the bdc reticle.. Anyone use these or am I better off with just the regular reticles we've all been using for years.. On the omega and slughunter scope, Id also be going with the 1.6x5 scope because of the wide FOV at 100 yrds which I think is 45 ft..

My scope of choice is the Leupold 2 1/2X. The last deer I killed was with a muzzle loader at a lazered 289 yrds. with that scope. I would not have shot but the deer had already been hit.

I have three slug guns and all three have different scopes on them. Burris Ballistic Plex, Nikon BDC, and the new Redfield with Accu Range. IMO if your going to shoot over 100yds. you can't beat a scope with some kind of BDC. The Redfield 2x7x33 Accu Range for a $129 scope  may have the best glass at 90+ light transmission and Leupold warranty.
