Shot My New P250 Today
« on: March 08, 2010, 10:46:49 AM »
With good weather and fresh reloads in hand I went to the range to testfire my new Sig 250 in 45ACP...  Only other Sig I had was a 9mm (226 I think) this new one is in the compact configuration and is DOA.... something very new for me... the weapon functioned flawlessly with three different versions of reloads using 200 and 225 grain jacketed and cast bullets using Bullseye...my shooting was off, but gun definitely shoots to the left of point of aim and a little low...(Sights are fixed)  I also fired the same loads in my Springfield V16 Longslide... but had jams on last round ejecting on one load.... the Sig had no problem.
I really like the feel and hopefully will become used to the double action only... I'm thinking of practicing by dry firing in the basement... anyone have any other suggestions?

You say it was "Dead On Arrival" (DOA)?  ;D  Sorry, couldn't resist.

I know you've probably thought of this but be sure that the left and low shooting isn't just you getting used to the double action only.  Try hooking your finger a little deeper into the trigger.  The two P250's that I got to try had a real long pull to them.  That was the one thing that put me off of them.  I have a P220 (.45) and a P226 (9MM) and love them both but just could not warm up to that long double action pull even though it was smooth and relatively light.  If they ever make that 250 in a DA/SA I would really be interested.

Enjoy your new toy. Glad it is functioning well for you.

I don't know your site picture, so this may be of no use to you. SIG uses a "combat" type sight, that is, you cover the target with the white dot instead of floating the target on top of the sight. Depending on what you are used to doing this can be changed by using a shorter front post, or changing your style.

I ended up changing my style as for the most part I use scopes now. It takes an effort to use irons now that I have adapted to the gun, as most guns are a target type hold.

I would agree on the trigger hook too, they have a really long soft pull, and that may be affecting you.
