Finally got my new EAA Bounty Hunter 22lr/22Mag
« on: March 08, 2010, 03:08:34 PM »
I finally got my EAA Bounty Hunter 22lr/22Mag handgun. It's a blue 8 shot
with a 4.5 inch barrel. This pistol is nice! It's solid steel! Built like a friggin
tank! No alloy with a pressed in barrel liner here. No Mickey Mouse safety
on it either. It has a transfer bar. You have to put the hammer at half cock
and open the loading gate to load it. It locks up real tight. Much more so
than both of my Ruger Blackhawks. It has a 3 screw frame. The trigger is
excellent right out of the box. The fit and finish is beautiful. Because of
the weight it feels more like a 45LC single action pistol rather than a rimfire.
It points real nice though. I hope to try it out in a couple of weeks. I'll do a
range report when I do.

Thanks Brett. I really like this pistol. It's made in Germany by a company called Weihrauch.
It's a quality piece. I'm considering getting their 45LC version with a 4.5 inch barrel after
seeing how well made and very reasonably priced they are.

Bob, I'm sure you are going to love that gun, I do mine!  I have the 6 shot with the 6 1/2" barrel.  I do wish I had the 4 1/2" though.  You will likely have to file down the front sight just a little.  I did that on mine to bring it to point of aim at 40 yds.  I also cut the rear sight just a little deeper, had to deepen the groove in the top strap to do that but it gives me a much cleaner sight picture now.  You know how 'old eyes' are!  Mine was very accurate and shot to the same place with both 22lr and 22 Mag.  It's absolutly my favorite 22.  I put a set of colt grips on it and it doesn't even move when it goes off.  (I do think you will find the frame and grip frames are aluminum, mine is)  Enjoy that gun!  44 Man.

Thanks 44 Man! You are right. The frame and grip are aluminum. This gun is heavy though.
I really like it. I can see why you like yours so much too! Thanks for the tip on the sights.
My eyes are anything but young as well. Us oldtimers need all the help we can get.

What did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?  I have a 6.5" Ruger Super Single Six that I love but their is always room in the stable for one more .22.

Brett,

I got it off of Gunbroker.com from a place in Minnesota. $249 + $20 shipping. Totally worth it!
