Ramline stocks are a polypropelene material, comparable to a butter tub. They are reenforced to retain shape and are pretty durable. I used to do the stock work for a shop and they kept a barrel of broken plastic stocks in the office. It mostly contained the Remingtons. Somewhat do to the prevalence of remington rifles in the area but still, I really don't like the Remington stock... Synthetics are great but they will break, and it doesn't require a catastrophy such as falling from a horse to do it..
