SB1/1997 RECEIVER
« on: March 10, 2010, 01:21:47 PM »
I have a chance to buy a SB1 Receiver it is a NL so it is a 1997, I would like to put a 20 and/or a 28ga. barrel on it. Being a year of an outsourced receiver, is there any problems I should be aware of ? Or are these just as good as all the rest, for a 20ga. ?

The SB2 were outsourced, but they can still be fitted with the same barrels as any SB1 made since 1987 which are 357 and 44mag, as well as all of the shotgun barrels except 10ga and 12ga USH.

So a SB1 made in 1997 was not outsourced ? Is that correct ?

I don't know for sure about the SB1, the SB2s were outsourced, that's why they can't be fitted with any rifle barrels except the 357 and 44mag, doesn't matter about the SB1 since they can only be fitted with the same barrels any way.

Tim,

Who made the recieves for H&R/NEF? I find this kind of interesting. Another question is, why did they have to out resoure the receiver.
