Rebarreling a tang safety Ruger 77 long action

I have a Ruger 77 long action tang safety 270 win that I've purchased a 7mm barrel blank for to make the rifle a 7X57 mauser.  Gunsmith I have used in the past for rebarreling has not replied to my email for doing job and I'll probably ask an elderly retired machinist to rebarrel the rifle.  He still has the necessary equipment to thread barrels and etc. in his shop behind his home.   He has worked on rifles for about 40 years as a hobby and a sideline.  He has done some good work on rifles for me in the past.  Unfortunately, he has never rebarreled a Ruger 77 rifle before.  My question is this?  Anything one should be aware of that is peculiar/unique about rebarreling a Ruger rifle that I need to inform him of before he begins the work.  Good thing about using the retired machinist, one of his best friends is a licensed gunsmith and it is not unusual for them to help each other out with a problem.

I would think it is a piece of cake, rimless cartridge, no extractor cuts (I think) so what would be the worry?  I don't know the thread angle, I just did a Styer that had 55 degree threads instead of the more usual 60 degree threads, but that is just a minute on the grinder to make a proper tool.  I have a 7X57 reamer and it looks just like all the rest of them.  Larry

It's plain old 1"-16. Simplest barrel job there is. Good choice of caliber, it's nice to see somebody who doesn't need a super wazoo magnum to shoot with. Enjoy!

NoBlade,  yep on the 7X57 and other like calibers.  30-06 is the stoutest recoil cartridge I shoot.  I'm amused by my fellow shoots at our private rifle range who get beat by the recoil of their larger caliber rifles.  I'm perfectly happy with my 257 Roberts. 6.5 Swedes, 7X57s, 300 Savage rifles.  Thanks for the replies on the Ruger.

Nobade is correct 1 x 16 tpi 60 degree thread. There is no breech stop in this action. So you have to watch how far in you screw the barrel so as the extractor doesn't touch the breech face of the barrel. other than that pretty simple.  I have found that if you set the head space at minimum on these rifles they tend to shoot better. 7 x 57 is a good caliber one of my favorites. And in that action you can load it to 270 win performance.
