Bass pro Shop and sales
« on: March 14, 2010, 12:56:27 AM »
Went to my local BPS yesterday to look at a Fish Finder they had on sale. Seemed like a good buy and had some features that I liked. Checked with a guy at the electronics
counter and he said," all sold out!"  In fact he said they only had 20 units to start with for the sale. I thought,"sold out?" they have a sale going on and this is how they handle it. Another bad experience(for me) at BPS!  I drive roughly 75 miles round trip and end up empty handed..  That alone will P--- a fellow off.
As I need another Fish/Depth finder, I went on line to Amazon.com and found another make/model, that will do what I need and ordered it. Plus, free shipping!  In a couple of days I`ll have. Did I mention it was about $20 cheaper than at BPS?  :)

St John`s river is going to raise up some due to all the rain we`ve had the last few days.  Bummer!  Will check tomorrow to see how it looks as the weather is going to be in the 70`s  and sunny next week. If the rivers not up yet and with warm weather forecast, the bass should be ready chow down. Plus, during the week, there is very little boat traffic.  That I like, as the water is calm not like the week-ends when the cabin cruisers/bass boats/etc are plying the river sending out those big and little wakes one after another. If you can find bass in a "no wake zone" you`ve got it made.  :)

Went to a yard sale yesterday afternoon and among the stuff was a Ryobi, V-Mag 4
bait caster.  It was in a little box,in parts. Asked the lady, how much? She said $.25.
For a quarter you can`t go wrong, so it came home with me.
Cleaned it all up, then started to put it all back together. Didn`t know if all the parts were there but as I moved along, everything seemed to be there. Long story short. As it worked out........all the parts were there. They only problem and it`s small is the line guide pawl needs replaced. Beside that, this thing works fine. It`s old but it shows very little wear. Score one for me. :)   Will pick up the needed part at my local Reel Repair shop.

It's called bait and switch. Walmart is famous or is that infamous for it. They'll put some item they know folks really will want to have in their sales flyer at a great price and might have only one per store. Then they'll have similar items priced considerably higher setting right next to where the single sale priced item was and try to get you to switch and buy the higher priced items when they tell you the sale item was so popular it's all sold out.

Lots of stores do it but Walmart seems to have it as a standard practice.

What about a rain check?  Around here if you put your foot down, ask for the manager and maybe hint of Bait n switch and you get a rain check... Other times you just have to ask, associates cannot suggest it.

We are heading up to BPS next Sunday for our yearly excursion.... About a 3-4 hour trip for us.

Maybe it`s just me but it seems I have to many bad experiences at BPS. Plus, the "workers" seem to think that customer service is a thing of the past.  They seem to be everywhere but if you make eye contact, they think it`s a sign of aggression and flee the scene.   :)
On the plus side, they do keep a clean rest-room.
As far as rain-check go, I didn`t ask.
